Warrant has rolled out a limited edition snare drum that’s for sale – designed in collaboration with Pearl Drums, shaped to match the exact preferences of longtime drummer Steven Sweet. Instead of being released directly by Pearl through retail outlets, this model is being sold exclusively through Warrant’s official online shop, giving it a different kind of launch — one that ties closely to the band’s identity.

The snare drum is crafted by Pearl but reflects Sweet’s own input in its design. Drawing inspiration from Pearl’s Session Studio Select and Masterworks custom lines, the drum measures 14 inches across and 6.5 inches deep. The shell is built from six plies of birch and African mahogany, both known for their distinct tonal characteristics. Birch brings clarity and bite, while mahogany adds a smoother, low-end warmth… together, they balance each other out in a way that suits a wide range of playing styles.

The bearing edge is cut at a shallow 60-degree angle. That kind of edge allows the drumhead to sit closely to the shell, which gives a rounded attack and helps control any excessive overtones. The idea here wasn’t volume for volume’s sake, but a punchy, musical tone with enough color to sit well in a modern mix. The first ten drums in the release feature a Cherry Pie Red finish, a direct reference to Warrant’s 1990 hit, making those units especially distinct.

Pearl has outfitted the drum with its SuperHoop II triple-flanged hoops. These hoops strike a balance between rigidity and feel, offering tuning stability while still letting the shell breathe. The drum also comes equipped with Remo coated heads, which is typical of Pearl’s higher-end snares. No word yet on exactly how many total drums will be made, but the indication is that this will remain a tightly limited run.

Steven Sweet has been behind the kit for Warrant since the band’s peak in the late ’80s and continues to be part of its touring and recording activity. His involvement in the development of this drum seems hands-on — not just a branding exercise. He’s already been using it live, and it’s designed to meet the demands of that environment: powerful but controlled, versatile enough for rock and beyond.

Selling the drum directly through Warrant’s store makes it more personal for fans. It gives buyers a way to own a piece of gear that’s not just artist-endorsed but artist-influenced from the ground up. For drummers looking for something with character, tied to an actual player’s needs, this release offers something outside the usual catalog approach.
