My Chemical Romance has removed drummer Michael Pedicone from their touring lineup following a theft incident. Pedicone had joined the band as a touring member after the departure of longtime drummer Bob Bryar and performed with the group during their 2010–2011 tour cycle.
According to a statement from the band, Pedicone was “caught red-handed stealing from the band” following a concert in Auburn, Washington. Once confronted, Pedicone reportedly admitted to his actions. The group shared that he was dismissed immediately and that the incident marked the end of their professional relationship. Despite the gravity of the situation, the band also indicated that they would not be pursuing legal action.
Drummer Jarrod Alexander was quickly brought in to fill the role, ensuring no disruption to the band’s ongoing tour. Alexander, known for his work with other rock outfits, stepped in as Pedicone’s replacement for the remainder of the scheduled shows.
In a separate statement, Pedicone acknowledged his mistake and referred to the incident as a poor decision during a challenging personal time. He emphasized that he had no intention of profiting from the act and expressed regret over how events unfolded. His statement, while offering some insight into his state of mind, did not go into detail about what was taken or the circumstances leading up to the incident.
The announcement came just days after Pedicone had played high-profile performances with the band, including sets at major festivals. Fans were taken by surprise by the sudden change, particularly following recent interviews in which Pedicone had spoken positively about his experience touring with My Chemical Romance.
The band, which emphasized the importance of trust among its members, described the incident as deeply disappointing. In comments from guitarist Frank Iero, the group acknowledged the emotional toll of the situation, noting that they felt “heartbroken and sick to our stomachs” but stood by their decision to act swiftly to maintain the integrity of the band and its operations.
This marks another change in the band’s history of drumming personnel. Their original drummer, Matt Pelissier, left the group in 2004 and was replaced by Bob Bryar, who remained with the band through its most commercially successful years. Pedicone’s involvement, though brief, was significant during the band’s post-Bryar transition.
As My Chemical Romance carries on with Alexander on drums, the band has made it clear they’re looking to move past the situation and stay focused on their music and upcoming shows. Pedicone, no longer part of the lineup, has expressed hope that he will recover both professionally and personally following the events.
