If you could have a day behind anyone else's kit (past or present), what kit would it be?

Charlie Watts & Buddy's kits all represented what a drummer could do with minimal equipment. I really whittled down my set not only to ease up load in/out, but I realized I could do the job with much less. I'd love to sit behind either of those just to see how they feel.

On the other side of the coin, Neil Peart's kit would be fun to just sit behind it & see how the Professor did his work. Because his kit used base sockets, memory locks & marks so his kit never changed, I'd love to see how that felt and just how high his upper toms & cymbals really were.

John Bonham's big tubs would be fun to bash on for a bit. Nothing says *boom* like a 26" kick.

Maybe the Lars signature kits got me thinking about this. I can guess what the top 4 or 5 selections might be across the board.

I would pick a variation of a theme. Mine would be Dale Crover's big blue Tama Artstar kit that he played live in the 1990's It's very Bonham inspired in its size. It was also a time when I believe he was still playing Zildjians.

I'd also get a kick our of sitting behind Lars' grey Justice kit, or Dave Lombardo's Season in the Abyss kit. Maybe I have a thing for crazy big kits.

Holy POWER TOM BATMAN!!!!

There are a few contenders, but really it has to be Keith Moon’s champagne finish Premiers for me. Live At Leeds has always been an inspiration.

I saw this one set up at the Music City Drum Show this year. According to the owners (the people that bought it from Dave himself), this is the actual kit that Weckl used on tour with Chick Corea and for the Buddy Rich Memorial Scholarship Concert. I refute that claim however, because in the Buddy Rich Concert, he is only using two mounted toms (not three) and they are power depths and not standard, and during the concert he was using a standard depth snare (not a piccolo) so who knows for sure? They did have the clips on the shells for his triggers. I also think the larger 16" floor tom by the hi-hat came a little later in his career, as did the upside down 6" splash on top of the 12". If I remember , he used a 12" power tom on his left mounted on a stand during this era? The owners said those are replica cymbals in the vein of what Dave used.....Dave wanted to keep his cymbals.

Love Weckl or not, this is a pretty iconic kit!

Would love to sit behing Stewart Copeland's Synchronicity Tour Kit as well.
