Drummers who are also celebrities

Who do you think is a drummer who is a mainstream celebrity? That is, not just known to musicians, but by the public in general. Buddy Rich would be a prime example due to his frequent appearances as a guest on The Tonight Show. And of course Ringo, because The Beatles. But what other drummers have wide exposure to a mainstream audience?

Yeah, we all know who played with Led Zep, the Stones, The Who, U2... but could someone on the street name those drummers?

I'm thinking:
Questlove
Max Weinberg
Dave Grohl
probably Travis Barker

Who am I missing?
Phil Collins

Sheila Escobedo

Cindy Blackman

Justin Bieber, Shakira, and Bruno Mars play drums but are not really drummers they just do small parts.

Most of them are famous for being drummers mostly so I don't know how mainstream.

Maybe these are more mainstream: https://drummagazine.com/twenty-surprising-celebrity-drummers/

Levon Helm acted in more than 20 movies, including "The Right Stuff," "Shooter" and "The Electric Mist."

Ex-Black Crowes Drummer Steve Gorman hosted a national show on Fox Sports Radio from 2014 - 2018 and currently hosts a music show, "Steve Gorman Rocks," on several Westwood One radio stations.

Don "No Contest" Henley was made more famous by the Mojo Nixon song "Don Henley Must Die" and was on at least one episode of "Miami Vice." Son of Vistalite Black hates him with the intensity of 10,000 burning suns.

Mel Torme was a great jazz drummer as a teen..but his main talent was as a great jazz singer/entertainer. He also ended up in movies, TV and books.

For my money Sammy Davis Jr was the best all around entertainer of all time. He could do it all a a very high level...dance, sing, act, comedy, juggle, impressions, the trumpet ,even gun tricks...as well as play drums. Not playing drums here but here he is with Buddy. Start it at 18 minutes in. At one point Sammy stops any accompaniment other than Rich and it's just two greats being great. And I love his quote..."I don't dance with Astaire, I don't sing with Ella Fitzgerald, and I do not play drums with Buddy Rich."

Celebrity appears to be a measure of market penetration.

I am wondering if this lack of apparent market penetration is a sign that the marketing machine(s) are truly failing?

If so, business opportunity for someone that is into marketing and not trying to get rich quick.

I'm getting my own post confused with another one! Lol... moderator please move to "Celebrities who also play drums" if possible.

Thank you

when I think of this topic, I go right to the drummers my new band parents ask me about:

"Can you make my kid play like:"
1. Ringo
2. "the guy from the movie Drumline/Whiplash"
3. Phil Collins
4. Buddy Rich
5. Neil Peart

You're a bit of a celebrity!

I only know you because of your drumming.

You are nationwide 😄

A lot of responses are Celebrities who are drummers. Questions seems to address those whose celebrity is due to drumming.

I don’t know what his profile was like abroad, but back in the day Cozy Powell was a genuine household name. He had a few solo singles under his own name that were modest hits, and did tv appearances.

In a similar vein, Sandy Nelson.
