How about the blond?

I decided to remove the original matching lacquered hoops and installed these Gibraltar blond maple hoops. Long ago I dropped my 1984 Tama Superstar cherry wine bass drum and cracked one of the matching hoops so that episode always plays on my head.

So the originals live in a closet nice and safe now. This look is growing on me.

Looks good. My own affinity for blonds waxes and wanes. I special ordered blonde (with inlay) hoops for my Blue Glass Glitter Ludwigs, just to have something different, but sometimes I miss the old black ones. :)

Hey, you've still got the originals, so you can change at will, if you get the urge.

I like it
"inlays are for sissies" oops sry nvrmnd 😁
gives an entire character to the 'set of drums;
like Civil War 1812 or something

I could. I just worry taking them out and possibly damaging them. So at least I have them.

I put blonde hoop on all used drums

Here's a comparison of the two hoops on my Luddies.

As for those blonde hoops on your Rogers, Bo, I like em just fine. My old Mapexes had plain blonde hoops like that.

Nope, both the same set of Ludwigs.
I know; reminded me of

That's Him... He built that out of a 16x18 and 10x12 tom toms, Drum World in Pitts. had left over. Keith took them back to shop matched a 14x14 floor tom to them, I walked in saw the finished 'product and traded an XPK black& gold 22" set in as part trade.

Only mistake Keith made and plagued me from Day 1 with that set..
was he didn't re-edge the 16x18 to a 'bass drum edge' and I could never deal with it and couldn't get it 'lower' bass-y atall but other than that they were remarkable,

Heck - you can re-edge it yourself if you just flatten it a little bit with 60 grit sand paper 😉

I prefer Blonde pro's to do that.

Huh. None of my kits have different edges than the toms. The Tama does have a thicker shell, but the edge profile looks the same.

Sorry Bo, we're getting off track here.

No we're not, we're supporting his Blonde decision (w/o inlays) Stroman 😁
