Ozzy is gone...

I got an alert on my phone right before lunch. It immediately had me flashing back to learning "Crazy Train" on all the instruments back in junior high, and how we'd all hang out in the band room and grab whatever instruments and noodle on that song over and over...

So much of the style and bombast of rock and metal came from his performances. We could be here for weeks talking about how much he influenced multiple generations. And consider the many gifted musicians who performed alongside him.

Truly a loss, but we did get that one last hurrah from him and his mates. What a fitting finish. [Edit: and to underscore what a sweet, caring, big hearted guy he actually was behind all that bluster... that concert raised $190 million for Parkinson's Disease research and care. Wow.]

Damn...this sucks. So soon after the farewell concert too. All the icons seem to be leaving us.

I'm glad he hung in there for the last show. His last gift to us all. Thanks, Ozzy!!

It's safe to say there will NEVER be another one like him.

Yeah, I would not have been at all surprised if he'd died in the 70s. Or the 80s. Or the 90s. Or the 00s. And yet him dying a mere 17 days after he put on a massive worldwide concert somehow shocks me, even though his health problems were well-known. Honestly, while obviously very sad, it's pretty badass. Like, "welp, I did that. I'm outta here."

Humble beginnings, and Lived a very full and eventful life. He did it all, and then some.
i listened to the first Black Sabbath album after the news. Man they started a whole genre, and of course the drumming on that is superb and rather unique for “heavy” music.

R.I.P. Ozzy!
I'm still kind of processing this....
It's tough when the singer of a band you've liked since being a PRE - 'tween-ager passes away.
All I can say is... those first three Sabbath LPs are masterpieces.
Thanks for the music!

It does seem surreal, like losing a close family member that's been a part of your life since forever. I'm sad that he's gone but will cherish the music even more now I think.

A monumental loss.

I think the greatest thing Ozzy did was bring us Randy.

Ozzy's eye for talent was great...he would have been a stellar full time producer!

Glad he didn't hide when the neuro issues arose.

Ozzy will be greatly missed!
Black Sabbath was one of my early musical influences . Used to jam sabbath tunes with my guitarist brother ( passed on 2001) all the time . Ozzy’s passing brings up a lot of memories of my brother . He was three years older than I and turned me on to a lot of the music I listened to and played and still do to this day. He’d talk my mother into allowing him to bring me along to concerts, one of which ( and there weee many ) and I believe was my first big show at 14 years old ( can’t remember as there were a lot ) was the Black and Blue show at Nassau coliseum ( 1980) which was recorded and put out in 81.
Bittersweet feelings as my brothers passing was July of 2001. All good things come to an end but our memories live on especially ( for me) the ones involving music .

Y'all think the four-Wheeler accident is what really did him in- or was there more; I heard someone say "he broke his neck" in that accident.. That's near death isn't it? what do you think or any details (you may have followed it) about that Four Wheeler accident

: ( God I hope there's not somewhere video of it..
Happened in the US right?

I could look this up but maybe someone wants to comment on it

That was over 20 years ago. It's unlikely that had much to do with it.

One might as well blame it on snorting ants...

I'm betting it started with ingesting petrochemical refined cocaine....lots of it. Not a smart move. Hope others learn from this...bet he would echo this sentiment.
