Tootie's Heath's playing on that album is really nice, and Bernard Purdie kills it on a couple of tracks as well..

Has about 3 or 4 "study" approach areas in there that interests me
what's yours?
Ok let's try this
One song where you think you're at at the moment- physically or mentally -physically in that you can play it or mentally you aspire to it
You're going twice as high as he is![]()
Great job!I got one for ya, Joe. Gadson’s “Use Me” groove. I can physically fumble my way through an awkward facsimile of it. We do that number at every gig and we average 120-150 gigs per year, so it’s not like I’m lacking opportunity to work on it.
I mentally aspire to be able to play it with the effortless cool that Gadson plays it with, especially the slowed down live version that’s been on YouTube for several years now. Someday, I want to feel like he looks in this clip when I’m playing.
And here’s a clip of me trying to keep the wheels on the track. LOL. This tempo is closer to the album version. We play it at whatever tempo my guy is feeling that night.
I sure wasn’t expecting that !!!!!
Great, isn’t it? They have two killer drummers. One quit, they replaced him, and the old guy rejoined so they just went with both.I sure wasn’t expecting that !!!!!
