A lot of good stuff out there now, great quality compared to when I was a kid starting out. I have said it before, but I really like my Tama Imperial Stars. Great HW, shells and sound.

I got my spl unity ii kit for only 90 dollars and it sounds great! it is usually on sale for really cheap too
