New Guru Tour Kit Series

Hey guys,

I haven't been here for a while (most people probably won't remember me) but I'm slowly starting to get back to playing drums and started following the new "Drummers Review" channel which is amazing!

They have done a Guru Review recently and I thought I'd share it with you all :)

It's a stunning kit I find and the unprocessed sound is unbelievable.

What are your thoughts??

Cheers

It does sound really good, especially for the shell sizes. It sounds like a much larger kit.

Thanks David, & great to see you back here. This review was only published today, & I'm very pleased with it. Drummer's Choice really is racking up a good selection of reviews. I love the critical platform & transparent audio capture that's equally applied across all reviews - hence me being happy to submit for review.

Thank you :) Certainly punches above it's sizes.

That’s a 10” rack tom producing that tone. Wow! Gorgeous looking and sounding kit.
Cheers, & yes, that 10" is a little honey, + a personal favourite of mine.

Great kit !

That little 10 sure packs a punch.

Andy, you did it : portability and small footprint with the sound of a larger kit.

Congratulations Sir !

Personally, I couldn't stand it.

It's horrible to have to watch a video of a drummer that is better than me, playing a kit that is better than mine. And don't get me started on that sexy accent.

Torture, plain and simple.

Is this the kit I fell in love with in Manchester?

The low end from the 20x14 on the video doesn't come close to hearing it in person.

It is. When audio capture is delivered honestly, it always under delivers compared to hearing in the real world. We perceive low frequencies significantly with our body almost as much as we do with our ears, & mic's - speakers / headphones can't really replicate that.

Of course, if you add a ton of sub (i.e. most drum demo recordings), you can get close to the live experience. The difference here however, is the drum actually delivers that in the real world. Walk around any drum show, & you'll soon appreciate that many don't (although that's often due to rep's who either can't tune a kit, or frequently don't give a s^%t because they know punters buy mainly on brand, finish, & price).

There - that's me in trouble again!

Welcome back!

Appreciated.

Hi Guys, I thought this reply from Nolly Getgood would be of interest here. He's responding to a question about mic's & processing applied to every review video. Pretty useful if you want to replicate this fairly basic recording approach.

Sounds (as expected) absolutely stunning. I'd expect nothing less from a Guru.

Loved the clip.

Sounds fantastic. I listened to that and the Origin series and so far they are the only drums that are in the running over going with Nobel & Cooley next.

Stunningly clear tone.......fantastic.

I think I finally figured out how Andy gets that pre-EQ’d sound. It’s a combination of the segmented shells (which tend to have a lower-pitched note and a shorter sound) and the shells having perfect bearing edges and being in absolute round, which also make the note more pure and “EQ’d”.

I wouldn't say it sounds "EQ'd" but just how a drum should sound naturally :p it's just that most other drums sound shit :D

Yes, I'm kidding. Kind of
