The IC pedals are bullet proof, highly adjustable and reasonably priced. You get a lot for your $ compared to other top of the line pedals. My only complaint is the beater. Not my favorite.
At some point you get diminishing returns spending tons of money on a pedal
I want a used pedal under $300
But I also want to know the sweet spot on performance and price on the new pedals - thx![]()
Pedals without base plates should be illegal.Any pedal with a baseplate will do, unless they don’t work. I use a Dixon bass drum pedal with a baseplate on one kit I leave at a church, and I would use that over any of the DW5000 pedals without baseplates that I’ve owned.
That too, a shitty beater can make a good pedal feel bad, so replacing bad beaters with good ones is a lot of times what is needed to make a cheap pedal work like a more expensive one.You might look at Gibraltar. I have several Gibraltar double pedals, chain drive and direct drive. I bought all of them used and I have been pleased by their performance. I should mention that I am not super picky about pedals. I am picky about beaters, so I don't used the stock beaters on any of my pedals. I have some Tama/Camco pedals (single and double) that I really like as well, a Yamaha I like, and a Speed Cobra that I like to use when I need more power.
Ditto. Paid all of £80 for the 90s one and £15 for the original 1981 model. Between them they've done silly amounts of gigs and the odd drop of 3 in 1 oil is all you need to keep them in tip top conditionAs fate would have it, I came across a Reverb ad that very week for a purchased new 1990's USA DW 5000ND Delta Strap pedal that sat in a studio--barely used--for years. I snagged it. That's the one for me!!! I'm taking it to my grave.
That's kind of a loaded question but since you mention 'used' and 'best for the money' I'd take a Taye XP-1 if you can find one.At some point you get diminishing returns spending tons of money on a pedal

Except that the Yamaha FP9 cost is $369.I would say the sweet spot is $200–250. Super solid choices like the Yamaha FP9 or Tama Speed Cobra. No need to spend more!
What is the best pedal for the money?
