Someone mentioned they used magic eraser to clean their cymbals. This made me intrigued. . so i busted out the bag of broken cymbals and gave it a try.
Did it work? With the natural finish yes it did. With the Brilliant finish.. stick marks yes, finger prints and oil... no not really
Do I...
I think this is my best demo video to date but I will leave that up to you guys!! Here is my latest snare demo in "the sounds of snares" series. Unfortunately my daughter who started the series did not want to participate in this episode but hopefully I can get her back in the future!! Enjoy the...
So I knew I needed to change out my sleeves but didn't realize how bad it was!
With the price of cymbals, don't let a $6 pack of sleeves cost you $600 or more!!
After much debate I decided to pull the trigger on the Gibraltar phone mount. I typically lay the phone in my drink holder if i don't have a drink, but if I do, i lay it on a drum and then can't use that drum. . now i wish I would have bought it sooner because it works great! I plan on buying a...
Saw one like this on FB and said I could make one of those! luckily I had all the parts lying around. Just a PDP mic mount and DW Clamp mixed together!
Super simple, clean and solid!
In this video we explore the world of recording the Batter Head of the bass drum. Here I compare two different microphone setups. The first being an externally mounted microphone on a clamp which is placed on the bass drum hoop. Here we have the mic pointing to the impact zone of my bass drum...
Today, we tried a new reso head on my new DW Smoke Glass Contrails kit. I received this kit with a factory white semi ported remo head. Now, me personally, I am an EVANS drum head guy.. but I thought I would do a three point comparison. 1) Factory Semi Ported head with the mic set to center2)...
I'm filling in for this 90s band again next week and while I was just running through some of their songs I just felt compelled to turn on the mis and camera and record this drum cover. It's such a simple straight forward song but I just love it. What do you think?
Had a hell of a weekend hanging out with the old man.. 72yrs young and still slinging that accordion!! We played 4 shows this weekend.
Didn't do much for video recording but here's one of the two I'll share! "Baby Why You Been Gone So Long"
This is my new DW kit. It's a 6pc, (1up and 3down setup) 12" Rack tom, 14",16",18" floor toms. 20X18 kick and 14x6.5 single top edge snare!
I'll of course post more pics and videos once I get a chance to set it up and tune her up to my liking! So stay tuned!
**UPDATE**
Got the kit all setup...

This is my beast of a ride cymbal. SABIAN calls it the "override" and it's a Limited Edition signature series for Jimmy Degrasso!
This cymbal weighs in at 10.5lbs!! It features a Raw 8" Power Bell!
Intense hammering from both HH and HHX this thing cuts through any mix!
Check this monster out!
My guitarist came down and we came up with this for our band. We are heading to the studio in two months
This is just him and i, no vocals or bass but what do you guys think?!
Would love to hear some input!
I also get a small fill/solo around 3:00mins. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that...
Had a guy reach out to me and asked if I could make him a Snom! I said ship it my way and say no more!
Here is a my build video with sound clips of the finished drum!
Thanks for watching
So I put together a video of all 14 drum covers I did in 2023. It's pretty cool to see and hear them back to back and the changes made and etc.
I did roughly 30 seconds from each drum cover and mashed it together. Thought I would share!
Here's a list and time stamp for the Artists!

So I had the day off today and I enjoy the day in the tool shop... and this is what I came up with!
What do you guys think! It's a 16x20 and holds 20 keys.
Also made a video DIY
This is truly one amazing drum. My friend Chris brought this over and I learned some really cool new things I never knew about!
First, this wood is literally compressed from a large piece of wood into a smaller piece to make the wood as dense as possivle
second, there's only two machines in...
Welcome to a very special Three Part edition of The Sounds of Snares! My friend Chris made the drive out to visit me and brought Three very special snare drums with him for me to try out and for you to learn about! Each one has an amazing story behind it and here we are diving into each one...
