Matching Cymbals to Drum Sets

You can do it, but it seems an expensive hobby to me. Your A Customs are great cymbals: I find them both bright and warm in a tasteful way.
If I own two kits, it'd also be one maple and one birch, or one wood and one acrylic. I'd use my Paiste Formula 602 to match the mellower wood tone, and my Paiste 2002 to complement the impact of acrylic or bright wood. The 2002 is also a cymbal line that's both bright and warm in a tasteful way.

Ummm... You folks have enough drums and cymbals that you can mix and match?!?

Maybe I should join a piccolo forum... I don't have a piccolo, but maybe the variables are lesser.

My buddy's a multi-instrumentalist - his daughter was a flautist. Is a flautist?!? Anyway, his joke - "How do you get two piccolo players to play in tune? Shoot one."

Yeah, he's also a US Civil War aficionado, so that might make sense.

In the meantime, I'll play what I've got. Hopefully nobody will take a pot-shot at me.
Are you kidding? I salute you! My intention when starting up again was 2 crashes, a ride and a pair of hats. along the way, I got three crashes, three rides, and three sets of hats, plus a couple goof cymbals. The only choices I have are rock vs jazzish ride, and higher pitched vs lower pitched hats but I usually go lower.

For louder gigs, I use my big, thin cymbals.

For softer gigs, I use by bigger, thinner cymbals. :ROFLMAO:

All of my cymbals sound good with all of my drums. I don't really think about it too much.

I'm happy with Paiste Signature cymbals on my Yamaha Hybrid Maple kit.

If I could afford two kits- something warmer like a Ludwig mahogany or a Gretsch Broadkaster, I'd love a Joe Morello set of Form. 602's for a classic vibe.

I found my sound with Mapex drums, Evans heads, and Sabian cymbals. See my signature for specifics. Peace and goodwill.
