Home made pumpkin soup with chives.....and warm crusty bread with ice cold pure juice to wash it all down.
BBQ chicken breasts, baked beans, cornbread, potato salad, and watermelon.
I hear ya ! I’m semi retired and wonder how I got all this shit done when I was working full midnight to eight shifts and 15-20 hours OT a week and sleeping about 4-5 hours a day for 15 years .
Cooking, cleaning, yard work, shopping , dropping a daughter here, picking someone up there, fixing the myriad of broken stuff around the house , taking care of the dog , laundry , doctors appointments etc…..etc….
My wife shattered every bone in her ankle , dislocated it, and broke the smaller leg bone last September . Was non weight bearing for just about 3 months and could barely walk the next three. In her second round of PTnow and doing better but I’ve taken on and am down from 100% of what she took care of to about 75% of the things she used to do still .
I finished up my cardiac rehab in August after a widowmaker and two stents and a week later she shattered her ankle.
Seems like one thing after anotherbut I’m thankful the two incidents didn’t happen simultaneously.
Haven’t been behind the kit since last July. But hey , we’re both on the mend and I honestly always say and get through by saying,…… it could always be worse and others DO have it worse . Gotta keep moving forward !
Should be back to playing by August or September.![]()
You folks are eatin' fancy! lol
I just had a bowl of generic honey nut cheerios with cherries, blueberries, and strawberries with almond milk.
@Xstr8edgtnrdrmrX and other cornbread lovers - do you like yours with sugar, or without?
I use my TN family recipe, which is just corn meal, buttermilk, an egg, baking powder and a bit of salt, cooked in a cast iron skillet. No sugar at all. When I taste cornbread with any sweetness, I think, "Hmmm, this would be a good muffin!"
I'm Mexican on one side of the family and hillbilly on the other, so I had all kinds of cornbread depending on whose family we were visiting. Now I gladly eat whatever the missus puts in front of me.@Xstr8edgtnrdrmrX and other cornbread lovers - do you like yours with sugar, or without?
I basically eat my grandmother's buttermilk cornbread, but it adapts well to a southwestern version. *She* would never have eaten it, but I like it. Leftovers of yesterday’s Father’s Day bbq feast….
Teriyaki garlic and lime juice chicken kabobs with bell peppers, zucchini and onion. Tortellini salad, macaroni salad . Excuses the well done shriveled up hotdog. One of my daughters wanted one and she’ll only eat them well done .

Yesterday for about two dozen people was the aforementioned kabobs and salads , a big garden salad, 4 big sausage pinwheels
( sweet and cheese and parsley) , two dozen hamburgers, two dozen hotdogs, carrot cake, cheese cake, carvel fudgie the whale cake, watermelon and numerous libations.
Coffee with Bailey’s to cap off a great day !
A bit cool and grey out but the rain held off until almost sunset when everyone was clearing out . Started about 2 pm .
Daughters gifted me a ticket to see my Steelers beat the Jets with one of my daughters , her boyfriend , her closest friend and her father for week #1.
All in all a pretty great day
They even printed up a mock ticket to go in the card they gave me along with some lottery tickets.
Love, love, …..LOVE my three daughters !
