what are some future predictions you think will happen to future e drums

The number one customer for e-drums is the hobbyist, playing at home for fun. Second after that is the church drummer, who is also often part time.
And for the manufacturers to attempt to capture that next far more demanding part of the market gets like exponentially more difficult - and expensive.

It's like most anything - conquering 80, 90 even 95% of the problem is the easy part. The ability for a device to allow us to sit down and play a basic beat with a variety of decent sounds coming out has been accomplished. For some, that equals 100% of what they need to do what they want to do. But then it starts getting more and more demanding - can we change the character of the hi hat sound by stick position and foot pressure? Can we vary the snare rimshot sound with slight adjustment of hand position and playing angle? Of course, we'll want to be able to bury the beater and don't vary the beater on the bass drum - and do either "on the fly". And then there's cymbals - ride stick positions, variations of playing the bell... these are just off the top of my head.

And maybe that may eventually be possible - I mean, we are getting closer with the more advanced sample libraries. But controlled in real-time from pads???? I think we have a long, long way to go. If it is even possible - which it just may not be (at least not for a very long time).

So just like we can do phenomenal stuff with orchestral sample libraries and virtual guitar plug-ins - and can use those things quite effectively in cases where 80-95% is good enough. But for now - people are recording very expensive orchestras everyday. Just as they are popping for the drummer, the room and the engineer to capture live acoustic drum performances.

Those things aren't going away - but just like it's been for drummer since the arrival of drum machines, there is far far less "in the trenches" low and medium level work. It is just too affordable to forgo hiring a player (or group of players) and just do it yourself.

Oh man I can easily envision "possible" future changes in acoustic drums- in shells (new materials or designs), in drum heads and cymbals. New alloys and materials always in development. I know they have voltage sensitive membranes in development that the stiffness changes with current. So you could have drum heads the lugs just attach it and the stiffness=pitch dialed in by current application. I can envision tunable or shiftable cymbals (shape memory alloys) that you can alter shape and sound. I think the physics of sound is still a blooming field of study (sound does strange things like light). Especially quantum physics with the phonon sound particle-that they were able to split just like a photon of light. They recently used nano drums to demonstrate quantum entanglement-see drummers rule LOL. I don't think the quantum stuff will have application but who knows? Anyways I think the future looks bright with discovery. Maybe not my lifetime-and I could be wrong and this is the apex and from here on out it all goes downhill. Like how they ruined the original Mr Coffee ROFL>

Apart from tinkering at the edges (rims mounts, different wood types etc) acoustic drums are almost the same as what they were in the 1940's and 50's. Arguably the man made drum head was the last major innovation. Hardware just got bigger and sturdier.
People still play 60-70 year old drums in critical situations, and no one would detect anything different.

😁 the raw beauty of nothing "between" the drum and the drummer would get lost

I don’t drink coffee so what’s the dirt on Mr. Coffee?

But seriously, I don’t think we’ve seen the last of innovation. And we certainly haven’t seen the last of “because I can” technology. Maybe something will come along that reinvents drums and percussion. I might put RIMS mounts in that category, ugly as they are. But just like the piano still exists, so will acoustic drums and cymbals in their current form. I would hate to see a world where nobody is pushing the envelope.

In the future, I imagine they'll improve the feel and responsiveness to make them closer to acoustics, maybe with better materials or more realistic sensitivity in the pads. A friend of mine switched to an electronic kit and was blown away by how much it replicated the sound and feel of acoustics. For more personal insight, I recently checked out trusted-psychics.co.uk for a reading—got some really good advice that helped me see things from a new perspective.

I think e-drums will feel way more like real kits: better pads, more natural stick response. Sounds will get even more realistic, and you’ll probably be able to tweak your tone while you’re playing. Wireless everything is coming too: fewer cables, more freedom. Basically, closer to an acoustic vibe, but with all the tech perks.

There was this time trying out a setup that felt almost too real—like the pads responded more like actual drums. It made me wonder if future tech might blend AI or even some intuitive feedback, maybe like how trusted-psychics.co.uk taps into vibes to predict things. Maybe e-drums will get smarter, sensing your style and helping you improve in ways we haven't seen yet.

I’d love to see more flexible pad layouts where you can easily swap pad positions and sizes digitally, kind of like customizing a video game controller to fit your style better.
You can do that on many/most ekits. Put pads physically where where you like and assign an any sound to any zone on any pad.
