My big announcement - I'm moving to Nashville!

To be like Willie Nelson.
Willie moved to Nashville in 1960. But after only limited success with his own recordings in the late 1960s (he wrote a lotta #1 for other artists like Patsy Cline - well actually he wrote Crazy while in Houston), Nelson grew weary of the corporate Nashville music scene, and in 1972 he moved to Austin. The music scene there motivated him to return to performing, and the rest is history.

Nashville-not. These days it's even worse.

Why do people move from Nashville to Austin? Part of it is a change of scenery maybe. Part of it may be the location is better for the type of music she plays. And part of it is it’s easier to do business with people when you’re in the same area.
I hear you and imagine you are right. That said, I’ve been seeing a ton of live videos from Nashville from the person I know who moved there. A lot of them are what you expect, country and country rock mostly. But the other day one of those videos was of a band playing jazz, sort of a modern fusion. And it kicked ass. Just shows that you can find all types of music in musical meccas.

I've personally known three people who moved to Nashville for the music industry. All three left after a period of time.

I don't really think that's the point, though. Gina has been here since she was a kid. I think we should be her cheering section, and hope for the best for her. 😊

Yup. It's all right here ⬇️

My favorite bio is about Merle Haggard. Escaping prisons multiple times and eventually getting a full pardon for past crimes. It's great to see how music can change someone's life.

Agreed. I think by and large; we do support all members' musical endeavors, videos and breaking news. I just don't like clicking links to other sites. I have rural internet. It doesn't take much to bog it down.

Sometimes we can be a "tough crowd". Years ago I posted what I thought was a really funny advertisement my band made for an upcoming gig. Well... I learned quickly that it was only funny to us, and not so much with "normal people"! :ROFLMAO:

I didn’t just comment on it, or post it earlier because it was a video that I made that took a lot of editing. Unfortunately, this is the format that is currently, “the big thing“.And it’s hard to get these things to translate from one format to another. Sorry to send you to another site.
My Big Announcement Here it is.
Gina, I wish you all the success in the world and hope you have a great drumming career. I've followed you from the beginning of your time here and know that being a professional successful musician is where you have set your sights.

With all respect, this second post hotlinks to another site...Instagram. Why not for the consideration of those who do not follow Instagram by choice.... just go ahead and put it into writing, here on this forum, what the big announcement is? If folks then wish to click on a link they can do so.

Everything posted here is visible to the general public; it's not a private forum. So via search, someone could actually hear about you for the first time through this very forum. Just sayin'. Take care and God bless!

There is a female drummer based out of Nashville Sofia Goodman. Fusion-oriented jazz. Not my cuppa, but hey her band plays around the US and abroad and she's making a living playing drums!

Here's your solution to fast, no bogs, internet acess:

Not that I mind, but just curious, why was this thread moved from “general”, where it probably should be, to “introduce yourself”? I have been a member here since 2009. This is not an initial introduction. I thought I had put it in the right place? Just looking for clarification?
That would be a moderator-specific question. If you PM Thomas, I'm sure he can give you an answer. Forum members are not privy to moderator decisions. Hope this helps. :)

Congrats Gina-I've enjoyed seeing your progress over the years. Good luck and knock'em dead in Nashville.
After raising 3 daughters I've always enjoyed watching my daughters and female biology major students progress and succeed in life. All three of my daughters more successful than I but they didn't have the handicap of being Me ROFL. A lot of my students have found success (medicine, dentistry, research) and I love they bother to inform me of it. Makes me proud I contributed a lil to that. Anyways follow the passion you obviously have-naysayers aren't living your life.

and found it!!

The drummer's setup is right handed with left foot on the kick, right on the hats, no floor tom. Never seen that before.

W.S. “Fluke” Holland was never a drummer before he joined Carl Perkins in the 50s and that’s how he thought to set up, and stayed with it.

I'm not a moderator, but moved because postings about one's self or one's own equipment etc. go in the Your Place Forum. I have seen some posts about kits that were hey look at my new kit (like one of my posts did) that also got moved to Your Place.
