Willie moved to Nashville in 1960. But after only limited success with his own recordings in the late 1960s (he wrote a lotta #1 for other artists like Patsy Cline - well actually he wrote Crazy while in Houston), Nelson grew weary of the corporate Nashville music scene, and in 1972 he moved to Austin. The music scene there motivated him to return to performing, and the rest is history. To be like Willie Nelson.
Nashville-not. These days it's even worse.
