Two of my favorite snare heads might have just had a kid. I love reverse dot heads (CS coated and Power Center Reverse Dot), and I *love* the Evans UV1s and UV2s. And this just popped up on my SM feed:
As soon as I see them on sale, I'm getting a 13" for the Guru and a 14" for the Black Magic.
Trying to get the biggest tone I can out of a 20" kick so I trying out the Evans EMAD2. How many of you rock the EMAD? It's my absolutely favorite go to head. Here is a video comparing the factory DW Remo head vs the EMAD2. Let me know what you think!
Today, we tried a new reso head on my new DW Smoke Glass Contrails kit. I received this kit with a factory white semi ported remo head. Now, me personally, I am an EVANS drum head guy.. but I thought I would do a three point comparison. 1) Factory Semi Ported head with the mic set to center2)...
Cleaning out a room in the house to setup my studio after a very long hiatus (can’t do it properly just yet) and even though I’m still injured I just wanted to stare at some drum for a while. I can play for as long and as much as I like as it helps my core but since I’ve lost so much muscle and...
It's been one year since I pulled the trigger and put UV2 heads on my Pork Pie kit. This kit is not gig'd on but it was used on multiple drum videos and is played daily down in my basement and used for teaching and lessons. This kit is one of my absolute favorites and I cannot talk highly enough...
I thought I would try something new.. I put on an Evans Heavyweight batter head with 500 snare side and Equalizer snare wires.... after lots of tinkering I just couldn't like the the 500. It's to thick and heavy and at low playing had an unwanted raspy sound. So out with that and in with the go...
my personal favorite bass drum head is the Evans EMAD or the GMAD. I love a super fat slappy punch of a kick and this head delivers that perfectly.
Almost like a triggered kick tone but with depth and tone.
What is your preference?!
So after much debate and even some hesitation... I had finally replaced my factory Pork Pie Remo heads with Evans UV2s, UV EMAD, Heavyweight snare and GMAD kick. I thought the Remo's sound great and I've had them on since 2016 when I bought the kit new... but it was time for a change. So far I'm...
I want a deep pitch in my toms.
It feels like resonance heads make it higher pitched.
Should I abandon Reso heads, or do Remo or Evans have reso heads designed to designate a deep focuses pitch?
Anyone heard/ tried these out before?
I'm intrigued by them, and by what Evans is feeding me I would like them, but I'm still against the thought of even a slightly muffled reso head.
Any thoughts?
