That sounds interesting but is not really possible mathematically speaking. 7 beats cannot be divided with four. Nor can the 8th notes, there are 14 of them. That is two beats too few or too much. If you want to count in 4, you need 12 or 16 beats 😉 For a long count in 4, you need 4 x 7 = 28 beats and that means you are just counting the one beat of four 7/4 measures. Counting everything in four means you are messing up the defining one-beat of several meters like 5/4 and 6/4, which will bring you out of their feeling.

You should try sway by following the main rhythm on 1 and 5 with the bass drums and guitars, one heel on 1, the other on 5. Then try to sense the subdivision in 14/8 from there.
