Buying stuff

I will only be buying heads, drum sticks, and guitar strings. I have all the drums, cymbals, and hardware I need. Peace and goodwill.

They're both very clean examples.

That champagne sparkle is stunning.
Kev & Martin @ Rattle & Drum are top blokes!

It's such a temptation when a truly awesome kit presents itself as "available"...

Just after I'd ordered my British Drum Company "Legend" kit from them in early 2023, they had taken in a DW Collectors kit in Rose Copper, in sizes I like. I was SOOO tempted, using advanced "Man Maths" to justify my lust.

Fortunately, I managed to talk myself out of it. I use the word "Fortunately" because I still have my "Gentlemen's Dangly Bits" that Her Ladyship would probably have severed with some rusty scissors....

@doggyd69b
"..of how repetitive it sounded"
Exactly yes.

@harryconway
2 crashes for alternative music from the 90s seems like a mandatory, I only have one, super low pitched jazz crash, super for jazz, sucks for alternative.

"I try to exhaust every idea of everything I already own before I look into buying a new "thing."
That's cool, another paradigm of thought, accepting to play literally something else on the instrument without being disappointed.
@jda
"Sometimes you just have to buy something to figure out what it's all about"
I noticed that, i guess drumming it's a game of buying and selling stuff. (Or collecting)

I like that (;

I'm a little older than that. Ringo's rooftop kit. And then later, John Bonham. As soon as I could afford a second crash, I bought one.

They pay for themselves through gigging and pay for holidays has always been my tried and trusted excuse with the chairman of the board ;)

I have to remind myself that I'd only be able to use them a handful of times in a year at outdoor gigs and I've already got a nice old Ludwig. My man maths has been working overtime, considering part ex the lot.

Had a few things from Rattle and Drum over the years. Only ever been in the store once back in 2009 when by mate was at Uni in Derby. Great music store!
