Trevor Morais

Trevor Morais was the drummer for the British band "The Peddlers" and has been active through the years.
The speed, the versatility, the precision, the showmanship, and the total command of the drum set are some of his attributes that I can mention.

The first clip shows some of his attributes. He plays ride cymbal mostly on the left and a bit on the right. He is literally on fire in this clip.
The second clip has one of the most unusual and difficult drum solos that I have personally heard. It is a drum solo out of the left field. The drum solo starts at 5:55.

Holy Molly!!! This is the epitome of "More is more" !!! Man those guys are freakin beasts!!!

You just don’t hear music like that much anymore. Way out there.

The drummer has a very bizarre unique technique.

Incredibly busy playing.....but jeez, it really fits.... somehow!

I saw him playing with Björk in the 1990s. He totally went with electronics, sampling, & triggers, but was playing everything live from Simmons pads if I recall.

Versatile, and a great feel.

🙂

This one is with Howard Jones - you can see Trevor at the back of the stage looking like an electronic taiko drummer 🙂

The band is swinging here. This tune is peppered with short bursts of solos by the Bass player and the Drummer.
Trevor Morais gives another great performance. His short solos cover all pieces of the drum set, never repeating himself.
Hi-hat only , Bass drum only , Snare drum, Cymbal and Cowbell only!!

The drum fill at 1:53 is another one out of the left field. I find his approach very creative. He speeds up the fill and then goes back to the slower beat continuing with the rhythm - a dynamic drummer with a unique touch.

well....there is the current versions of that kind of music:
Animals As Leaders
Aviations
Leperous
Hakken
Galactic

it's just that people slam it for some reason

this guy is basically just Matt Gartska/Baard Kolstaad/Stanton Moore/James Knoerl

Never really thought of the two bands I’ve heard of that way (AAL and Galactic), but I guess you could make a case for them.

yeah....

i think that we can get into the idea that things from the past will not, or can't be repeated, but they are being repeated - at various levels - every day.

I never thought anyone could play faster than Charlie Benante....and then came Derrek Roddy

I never thought any band could be as weird/nerdy/musically solid as Rush....and then came Primus

I think the thing that bothers me more is that people will say that Matt Gartska (AAL) "overplays" and doesn't "play for the song", but then a situation like The Peddlers comes up, or Keith Moon, or Ginger Baker - where the guy is "overplaying" - but it is acceptable for some reason for their song. Or that song is on a different pedistal where over playing is ok because the song/group is some kind of relic.

I think we tend to get "halcyon blinders" on and don't see things for what they really are.

And I also am not slamming Trevor or the Peddlers. I like the song and their sound
