I am not a recording engineer, but these are my thoughts. I think realistic could mean two things when talking about the snare drum sound. What we hear as a drummer sitting behind the snare drum OR what someone hears sitting in front of the snare. No manipulation of sound. No mics. Just the raw...
My elder brother was a guitar player. He brought the music into the house.
When I was in elementary school, I took a month of Accordion lessons, but did not like the instrument.
I started to play along with my brother with a toy drum. Bought the first real set at high school. I was self taught...
@harryconway,
Congratulations on your purchase.
Do these older Yamaha metal snares have any serial numbers anywhere? The current iteration of the Recording Custom metal snares that I have seen have serial numbers that indicate the date of production.
You are 200% correct. The current...

Thanks for providing a potential workaround. There are no comments or workarounds yet by the developers who are recoding the web site for serving ads.

It is a YouTube sound check. At the end of the day, the best sound check is to get your hands on a snare, sit behind it, and play it.

One last sound check for Gretsch. I think he is muffling the head but it comes standard with a black dot head for more control.
This is low cost. Black Nickle coated. 1.2 mm steel shell. 2.3 mm triple flanged hoops. 10 lugs.

Ok cleared the cookies. Just one thing. The name of the site is case sensitive. When you are searching for the cookies type drummerworld. Let's hope this is the workaround for the page display crash.
That is ok. Not taking this personal at all. Sometime it is hard to get the point across in writing. People may interpret what is written different way.
Agree, disagree, add new information. That is the point of discussions in forums.
Just a quick side note,
The other day I was thinking about what @roncadillac said in his post about a black coating on a cheap steel shell, and I combined it with the idea of Black Nickel coating. I thought that this combination at a low price may not exist. Yes it does exist. Maybe other drum...
A quote from that famous movie: "Welcome to the party pal"!!
I think every right hand drummer has to deal with this in some form or other.
Here is my left hand issue now.
RIGHT-RIGHT-LEFT-LEFT :)
