Let's see your Gretsch kits (saved the best for last!)

Can we please finally edit the thread title so it doesn’t say “my kit is better than yours”, seems a bit immature on a forum with thousands of drummers playing various different brands

What's the story behind the bass drum spurs?
Ludwig Atlas spurs; they replace those lugs, so no drilling required. Because I didn't get one of the spurs with the kit, and they really aren't up to the task even if I did have both of them. I have this drum on a riser, too.

I needed a kit to leave for rehearsals so I could just leave it there and save my back from lugging an entire kit to each rehearsal. Paid $150. The cymbals were garbage and as was the snare. I tried to tune the snare which immediately resulted in a lug just snapping in half. Figures. It was not a Gretsch snare. It was a Gammon. No real loss there. I actually like how they sound. I didn't even bother replacing the heads. They sound ok for their intended purpose. And I got a decent snare stand, straight cymbal stand, hi hat stand and music stand in the deal.

"On ‘57 Elvin joined the Jay Jay Johnson group for a couple of records for Columbia and a tour in Europe and to get a good drums J.J. loaned 350 dollars to buy a drumkit from Gretsch company also if he deducted from Elvin’s salary every week .. nice guy .. in Elvin’s words .. So that’s how Elvin met Phil Grant at that time the head of promotions and sales for the Fred Gretsch Manufacturing Company, and then he became an endorser.

Thanks! They sound great, they’re not quite the tonal complexity like a USA custom…or my dream set a sonor phonic lol…but they’re damn nice sounding. The sizes are 22x14, 10x7, 12x8, 14x14, 16x16. Tuning wise, I like to run a “call to post” interval on the toms…D-B-G-D. Roughly 146-123-97-76 fundamentals on a tune bot. Kick drum E 41hz. Batter heads either ambassador coated or ludwig silver dots….resos are clear ambassadors
I've admired this kit on the Sweetwater site. I wish that they offered 22x14 bass drums as an option for all the renown kits. Also, I love one up two down! Yes, this appears to be one of the best deals out there.

I used my red sparkle USA Customs Friday night: 24/13/16 with a 6.5" USA snare in '60s Marine Pearl.
