Why the pic of Lawrence Of Arabia?101 degrees F today in Bakersfield and this is our stage for a fundraiser event. Ugh.Bandleader is off to Home Depot for an EZ Up as I type this. We were under the impression it was an indoor thing. Sun hoodie to the rescue for me!

My last gig in Pakistan before moving on to a new posting. Very emotional night. Got three of my bands to play (singer in the fourth is away unfortunately), so an evening of punk, 80s covers and Hendrix/blues. All my gear is packed up so hired a kit... the mapex kit was ok mostly spoilt by old heads, but was not expecting a Rogers dynasonic snare. Haven't played one before and loved it, will have to get one now.
We fly tomorrow, have said goodbye to my musician buddies here, hopefully will find a good crowd at the next posting but will miss these guys, they're like a second family, something I think happens when you gig and really get on.

You made all of us jealous when you bought that new Slingerland!
I hope you do not mind me asking, have you used that for performances and recordings? What do others think of the sound of that snare?

Of course not, I don’t mind you asking in the slightest.
I’ve not actually played it yet, as crazy as that sounds. I’ve been so busy since it arrived, recently taking on 3 more dep gigs and learning tons of new songs, so every single time I’ve rented a rehearsal studio it’s been with one of the bands and straight to business.
However, I’m in a rehearsal room this coming Friday with a couple of friends having a relaxed jam as part of a yearly get together weekend we have so…..I’ll be playing it then for the first time and able to spend time dialling it in / playing around with it in a relaxed setting.
Just a few days to go!

Love your gloss black Frequent Flyer, @SharkSandwich! Super classy looking, but I’m admittedly biased toward black drums.
How are you liking the FF? I recently got mine set up as my home practice rig, and I’m quite pleased with the sound. Mine’s in the satin black finish, which has its own cool factor.My working shell bank is gloss black. I love my drums being able to fit in visually, as well as sonically, in any situation. Congrats on that kit. Looks like it’s already serving you well!

It was more a case of Mama RVC getting Papa a brand new bag.
That’s my man purse that I tote all my daily stuff in. Goes with me everywhere! I was using a small tool bag previously but Mama didn’t think that was stylish enough. She’s a Yoda-level thrifter and found this one for a great price at a local Goodwill.
