Hi all,

I've always been enamoroued by the concept of accents, and have always been convinced of their prominence in music, especially unpitched percussion. After working through these ideas with some students recently, I thought I'd put together a video explaining my approach to this concept.

Excellent presentation on technique essentials highlighting their crucial yet fundamental role in our playing. A couple of salient points that struck me: We never depart from proper stick technique and hand mechanics; it's part of the process as long as we are playing music whether it be practice etudes or solo work -and we should always be working on something.

Big takeaway for me: "Technique struggles are a symptomatic of a weak fulcrum."

Thanks again for taking the time to make this instructional content available to us. I really hope everyone listens and learns from it. ☺️
