What's the Difference between DrumForum.org and Drummerworld.com/forums

I frequent both forums . Each have their strong points . I took a two year hiatus from Drumforum.org after another forum member (that loved local to me ) physically threatened me on open forum and the Admins/Ownership did nothing other than deleting the post where I was threatened . Told me a lot about how much that ownership group cared about their membership .

I like the wider age range here . I feel very comfortable here and like the members . It was nice to JDA made it over here and providing his curious blend of humour and expertise . Drumbob was another that I appreciated seeing participate here . We had been long distance friends for about 25 years .
The moderating at DFO doesn’t make sense at all .
And I really miss JDA

I'm sometimes active at both forums. Some far more knowledgeable ones are also active in both. Main difference: the other forum doesn't have a thread like this.
Now, figure yourself and think about it.

They have had threads like this. Do a search on their site. Plus there are a ton of comments (mostly people patting themselves and the forum on the back) slagging drummerworld.

Your whole first paragraph was trashing the band, my friend. I don’t get why you don’t see that. “Pretentious” is not a compliment or even a neutral word. It’s 100% an insult and a fairly big one. Some would argue that it’s also bullying to accuse them of being about the photos and not the music.

That said, it’s your opinion and you’re welcome to voice it. But you also will get fallout for it from fans and friends and that’s just the way it is, whether you’re on DFO or not.

Mott The Hoople was pretentious. ELP was pretentious. I grew up listening to Mott and ELP. Love them. But yeah they were pretentious. Is that trashing these bands? Yes. No. Maybe.

Here is a link to an article about pretentiousness in famous bands. I like what they said, which is basically what I was saying on DFO. In return I got insults and challenges. No one actually rebutted my assertion that band was over-coached and came off pretentious. And that is why I no longer interact much with DFO. A lot friendlier around here, with better mods. Better discussions.

Here is what Far Out Magazine says about pretentious/bands/albums:
Fame is a dangerous thing. When you have stadiums full of people cheering what you are doing and fans all over the world constantly singing your praises and calling you a genius, it takes a big person not to let it go of their head. This often leads to the production of albums that are quite abstract and otherworldly in their execution but that an artist believes they should release because it’s an example of their genius. Rather than making music that people can connect with, they create something pretentious, with an attitude of, trust me, I’m the genius you all love; this is great. Flaming Lips, U2, Lou Reed+Metallica, Pink Floyd, Guns n Roses, Limp Bizkit, and other bands are on their pretentious album list.

Pretentious Albums

Which I find amusing. I see almost the same active posters in both places. I mean the ones that open threads and comment on all threads.

Some of them seem indeed full-time online. On Facebook or Whatsapp, they'll have a private group, without paying a member fee to block ads...

Or they could just add a vintage drum forum to DW ;). But we do talk about vintage drums and cymbals on here through the course of the existing forums.
I do like that idea. Vintage forum.

And delete the Your Gear under Your Place. Just let us post about our gear in the gear forums, because they lead to discussions about gear and dovetail into other member's gear and opinions on gear.

I browse drummerworld more out of the two but I have gone to drumforum to get some stuff cleared about replacement pieces, but I do find it more useful here, so far.
