Have any of you ordered bricks of the Goodwood-type sticks online? Your impressions?

My day job is going away at the end of the month. :( So, I'm trying to cut corners where I can. Are these bricks good? Worthwhile? Wildly inconsistent?

Opinions needed.

I used to order them from Musician's Friend. They were good, but now I buy what I want. Peace and goodwill.

I've purchased a few random pairs. They are decent quality. I've been playing a pair in my practice room for a couple months now, zero issues.

You're probably safe buying a brick. I don't think it's any more risky than buying a brick of the major league stuff.

I love Goodwoods. I bought a 7A brick online for like 40 euros and decided to weigh them and sort them with a marking on the bottom myself. I still have some of em lying around, really nice feel.

I still have 6 pair each of 5AN and 5BW that I ordered from Guitar Center back in 2016. I bought a dozen pairs of each, and only one 5AN stick had to be thrown out due to warfare. The rest were very usable, durable, and have served me well. The 5B sticks were closer in specs to a 2B, but other than that, they are a great value. I paid $2.99/pr. at the time. This is why I have always stocked up on sticks and heads; as a hedge against inflation. There used to be a gentleman out here who only played Goodwood sticks and swore by them, but I believe he left the forum a few years ago.

I have done a lot of sacrificing for "the cheaper option" for many, many things in my life. One thing I do not skimp on anymore is drum heads and sticks. I've bought sticks that were on sale that might work, and then I end up giving them away after fighting them for weeks on end. I buy gear that makes me want to play, not gear that I have to play. I'll skip lunches for two weeks before I buy cheap sticks and heads these days.
