    Identify this Ludwig drum set?

I recently inherited this old Ludwig five-piece drum set. It requires a wrench to adjust the hardware and bears some similarity to the Ludwig Butcher's Block drum sets of the 1970s. This narrows it down to the right ballpark, but I am having trouble finding an exact match online. The rack tom...

    Snare drum out of round

So I've got a 1970s brass Ludwig (blue/olive rounded corners) that is a bit outta round. Was just curious if anybody had a way to go about remedying this other than the stand and pull method.

Yamaha 25th anniversary snare - which year?

Hi I own a Yamaha 25th anniversary snare (see pic). Does anyone know when those snares were produced? I keep seeing 2004 as the 25th anniversary year of Yamaha but I bought this snare definitely before that. Thanks Michael

    Rogers Powertone 14x5 snare

I need some help. Has any of you any experience with the Rogers Powertone snare 14x5? Does it sounds as good as the vintage Rogers snares from the sixties? They draw my attention, but there is not a shop near where I can try one.

Thinking about making a snare drum, but what material, snare wires, bearing and depth should I use for a fat and "ringyish" 70's rock sound (VanHal1)?

I am making a group with some people on the internet and my cheap Basix Classic Series 14x5 snare sounded like (yk what). Put some new heads and tried playing with the snare wires and now it sounds better; but I messed up the snare wire. In anyway, I wanna build my own snare, that sounds like a...

This Sonor S Class snare drum has two different sets of numbers inside, whats up with that?

So a year ago I was given this drum by a friend of a friend who I did some plumbing work for. It was essentially part of my payment/tip for the work. The guy was aware that I play and this drum had been sitting around unused for a while because he had to stop playing for health reasons a few...

What's your favorite snare drum TODAY?

I own 7 snare drums. They all take turns being my "favorite". I'll play one non-stop for 6 months. We'll have some sort of "falling out" and it will go back in the case in favor of another. Today, my favorite snare is a 5x14 Pearl Sensitone Aluminum. What's today's favorite?

Drum mixing - Found some great layers/triggers

Hi, I often layer sounds in production or mixing to get the drums exactly how i'm hearing them for the track. I recently found oneshots (add .shop and you'll find the site) which has bulked out my sample collection. Anyone else know of similar resources?

One snare only...other than a BB

Hello! I'm in the market for a 2nd snare and am looking for suggestions. I currently have a 14 x 6.5 Black Beauty and want something that gives me some different sonic options and still covers a fair amount of ground. I know the BB covers a lot of territory and don't want something that's...

    Sonor Kompressor Series Hoops Problem

So I recently bought a Sonor Kompressor Series Aluminum Snare drum. I like aluminum snares, and I think this drum has a great tone, looks great and the hardware seems well built. However... I wasn't crazy about how it was tuning up out of the box. Then I replaced the stock batter head which...

    Ludwig Build Quality???

Crazy about the Ludwig acrolite sound, I paid a lot more for the brand new lm405c in China than in USA . But the build quality is too bad, the surface with a few flaws, the triple flanged hoop has a deformation, inside the drum shell is very dirty. Never happen on...

    DW Super Solid Edge: Cherry/Walnut/Cherry!!

This is truly one amazing drum. My friend Chris brought this over and I learned some really cool new things I never knew about! First, this wood is literally compressed from a large piece of wood into a smaller piece to make the wood as dense as possivle second, there's only two machines in...

I did not like the Evans 500 snare side... 300 is my go to!

I thought I would try something new.. I put on an Evans Heavyweight batter head with 500 snare side and Equalizer snare wires.... after lots of tinkering I just couldn't like the the 500. It's to thick and heavy and at low playing had an unwanted raspy sound. So out with that and in with the go...
