I don't know, one of those hammered bronze numbers.
If it was hammered, probably not a Rocker.I don't know, one of those hammered bronze numbers.
I have a 6.5 hand hammered bronze. What is a twin channel?Black beauty brass or bronze? As they made/make both.
Would still love to have a hammered black beauty bronze from the 80’s.
With a twin channel on top like Alan White and his natural hammered bronze.
That was my thought after trying them back to back, too.I've played one of those 90s COB's, and I think that a Black Beauty blows the doors off of the chrome plated version. There's some kind of witchcraft with the black nickel that makes the tone fuller and the fundamental pitch lower to my ear.
I agree with you Winston - I have owned 5” and 6.5” COB snares from Ludwig and I far prefer the Black beauties . Yes the greatest diecast ever
spun aluminum is awesome. Oriollo PhantomI always found my cast bronze cool.
But way too heavy. Give me spun bronze, or even better, alu every day of the week.
As such I passed on the hld a few times too.
I’ll do that as soon as I’m offered a stadium tour for more than $2000 a week.I am lucky to have sampled and own a couple of cast drums they are amazing and exquisite. I've owned a DW collectors cast 14x5 since 1998 and over the years have added a Duluth 14x6.5, DW 14x5 True Cast and Zildjian 400th and even though they are all similar the Zildjian has the biggest difference in tone.
Do you need one, no but should you treat yourself to a cast drum..... Absolutely!
I mean, I was going to offer you a stadium tour for 10k a week but then I found out you didn't have a cast drum so I was forced to go with Josh Freese.I’ll do that as soon as I’m offered a stadium tour for more than $2000 a week.

Oh wait! Someone is ringing my doorbell right now, bringing me one. He just happened to drive by and asked, "Are you a drummer?"I’ll do that as soon as I’m offered a stadium tour for more than $2000 a week.
I built my Duluth for a total of $1500AUD so compared to other cast shells it was a bargain and sounds HUGE!I’ll do that as soon as I’m offered a stadium tour for more than $2000 a week.
