I snagged a killer used Prolite over the weekend, should arrive this week. Retailer claims '2020's.' I will post this on the new forum when I get done with the workday.I’m not that up on the modern the Sonor era. My newest kit is from 96 (Force Maple) then back to 63 (Teardrop).
The old standby for manufacture date was the date stamp inside the drum; month followed by year usually visible through one of the vent holes; red stamp for Asian and black for German.
You can also contact Sonor directly via social media and maybe they could shed more light.
Might also be a great question for the new forum which has a greater focus on the current product lineup rather than the old vintage stuff.
Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
Sonor are too expensive
I bought mine yoosed. It's my favorite snare.

Which Snare did you get?
I’m pretty sure my Prolites have a 4-digit stamp on the shell denoting year and month of manufacture.I'll check it out.
@Frank Godiva - question for you. We know we can use the Sonor SQ Configurator site to enter the serial number of an existing SQ drum to determine it's make and model. But what about build year? And how would I research the build year on a Prolite kit?
Looks great! Just recently I bought myself a Prolite snare too (6x14 though), and I'm in love with it! Love the sound, the touch,12x5 Prolite Vintage Maple

4x16" ??? I've never seen a snare in that size!Looks great! Just recently I bought myself a Prolite snare too (4x16 though), and I'm in love with it! Love the sound, the touch,
the lightness, the versatility, and of course the look, too!
Along with its companion, my Jost Nickel signature snare, they're my beloved and very complementing workhorses.

Writing depth first never made sense to me either.Corrected. Wanted to use the (to me) strange way of writing depth first as you Americans seem to do, but my brain apparently failed epically!
Haha!! I thought you had an amazingly unique size!Corrected. Wanted to use the (to me) strange way of writing depth first as you Americans seem to do, but my brain apparently failed epically!
Photo of the new Prolite kit and my SQ2 Scandinavian Birch (thin build) side by side. Also just special ordered the matching 14x14 floor tom for the Prolite. You have to order as an SQ2 vintage maple shell with the Prolite badge. 6-9 months.Be sure to post photos!
