I know, I have the 18 and 19” and they blend very well with the Dark Energy 16, 17 and 19” too. I was thinking about the fast crash but I have other fast crash, the Sabian AAX 18 so, finally gave up on the fast crash but yes, good choice.
Summit Peak Dark Quilted Cherry 6.25, Gold colour hardware, Champagne Lugs and DW Mag Throw and 5 positions Butt. I had tried it on another snare and it works very well and it’s quite small so, on this drum, I really wanted the wood grain to be seen so, choosing as less hardware I could to display it. Next in the making is the 7.0 coming from the same board but grain/vein should be very different.
Thanks @roncadillac for the recommendation. These arrived yesterday.

I bought a Zildjian 18” Medium crash cymbal. It’s not an A or any other “line”. Just a regular crash. Bought it used on FB Marketplace for $75. I’m going to bring it to rehearsal Friday to see how I like it in conjunction with one of my 16” crashes and my 20” ride.
I heard it loud and clear. I wanted to hear crash and I heard it. I wanted to hear that Paiste crystal clear high pitch sound and I heard it.
As you suggested, I will use this as a crash/ride on the left side. I have never tried playing ride on the left and I would like to know the feel.
Thanks again for the recommendation.

Funny you say that, the first time I used that cymbal with my regular band was the first time I ever used a cymbal on the left as an alternate ride (beyond using it as a crash of course) and I found SO MANY sections of our original music that strongly benefited from having a softer but still present pingy sound. Many times I looked up and my bass player is just giving me the "hell yeah!" smile lol. The bell on that crash is no joke too. I feel like switching to Paiste is one of the best things I ever did in my twenty five or so years of drumming so far.
"Light" means reeeeeally light. I bought two pairs and each stick weighs exactly 39 grams. Maybe they just take some getting used to, but at the moment I'm feeling like that might be a little too light for me. When I'm at my drums it's like I'm moving with nothing in my hands.

A dw performance in ginger glitter. Not pictured but it came with dw5002 pedals and a 9000 hihat etc but I’m gonna sell them to get some of the cost back
How about a thread to celebrate and marvel at our newest purchases? I know I'll enjoy seeing yours.
Here's mine:
A mixed box of toys. Evans g2 over g1 coated for my yamaha kit, tight screws and trick quick release cymbal toppers.
A quick release hi hat drop clutch, some rods, some brushes, emperors for my saturn kit, and a 20" emad which could go on either of my 20'' kicks. Also a dw cowbell mount.
Quoting myself here. This thing came in yesterday and I had all afternoon and evening to play around with it. As predicted, it sounds exactly like a snare drum, and it probably can’t do anything that my True Sonic can’t already do. If nothing else, it’ll look a bit more appropriate when I’m using my 24” bass drum (OCD workin’ hard here!). One day I’ll learn, but evidently not today.
Quoting myself again. Two months into ownership, and I had completely forgotten about this purchase. I’ve been using my True Sonic for everything, and haven’t been using any of my larger drums, so this lovely lady has been waiting patiently in her SKB case.
Since the final pieces of my Frequent Flyer home practice rig arrived last month, I’ve been logging some serious hours in the drum cave. The proverbial light bulb went off and I remembered the BNoB 8-lug drum. Have now spent the last few days with it on the FF kit. Still sounds just like a snare drum and still can’t do anything my True Sonic can’t already do, but it looks nice!
Best part of this pic is the painting in the background. My 26 y/o kid made it for me when she was in elementary school. I just drove her and her boyfriend to LAX yesterday for their 10 day trip to Ireland.
This was a stress purchase a week ago, when I found out I'd lost a ton of video files. I got most of the files back, but this collection popped up on the Verb in the middle of that process for a price too good to be true.
I'm glad I stayed home to wait for this delivery, because the mail carrier left the package at the horse farm across the street, like they did with the Gretsch Book I ordered, which got ruined in a classic NC thunderstorm. Pretty low stakes with the book (and I was able to salvage it), but not so with this haul. I have my post office's phone number, and gave them a call, and we're working to fix the mis-delivery issue...
