Oh, I thought those were brushes to go with the Elvin mallets.need light dusting done
I'm up to 7 snares now and my favorite is still the 14 x 5 Supraphonic. On my 1968 Sound King Gene Krupa 14 x 5 I got rid of the Zoomatic and replaced it with a Trick Drums throw off, which is fantastic. Also a 15 strand Grover strainer. I am happy with it as it is now.Shoutout to a golden oldie, a Slingerland Sound King 14x6.5 I've had for a while.
Haven't used it much because the Zoomatic didn't have the knob to adjust wire tension. Recently I found another to replace it with, then almost put it up for sale in a rage fit because of the finicky nature of that strainer and those silly little butt plate screws, I was so done with old snare drums two days ago.
Yesterday I had calmed down, removed the batter head it came with, put on a Evans hd, found the right wire tension and..there it was. Today it is my favourite, and I'm not selling it.
That is a nice looking drum, it really is. Those lugs and the finish, really clean and classy look.View attachment 158984

Still your favourite? Asking because I started looking into bronze snares a while back. Thought about getting a used Tama slp 14x4.5, but I'm more tempted to keep the powder dry and be ready if one of these show up.Currently, my snare fave is the one at my drum set: 5" Gretsch USA 1mm Bronze shell...

I generally prefer brass for metal snare drums. That said, what prompted your decision? Just like the tone better? Do you feel the aluminum one is lacking something you want?My "favorite" just changed. Now it's my Pearl Sensitone Elite brass 5" x 14". My aluminum Sensitone is set aside in a case like yesterday's weather forecast!![]()
