What is the best pedal for the money?

TL;DR: Go for an Eliminator, DW 500 or Iron Cobra 900 and you'll (most likely) be happy.

I have played the same Pearl Eliminator for 21 years now. Still going strong. Between the different cams and a chain / belt option, it's a great way to experiment getting different feels.

For many years I played a blue cam with a chain. A couple of years ago I was in an experimental phase, changed to a belt drive and white cam, loosened the springs... Felt like a totally different pedal.

I recently bought a used Tama Iron Cobra 900, and that thing's a pleasure to play on as well.

Admittedly, I haven't tried a lot of pedals with a critical eye, uhhh... foot. Like @toddbishop, I'm pretty much happy with any pedal. Like @equipmentdork, I've got a 90's vintage Yamaha pedal - maybe an FP6210 (if they even had model numbers back then) and it serves me well as my only pedal; it doesn't have a case and folds flat for travel. Also, @doggyd69b brings up a good point, before you relegate your old pedal to the recycle bin, monkey with ALL the adjustments! Tiny tweaks can make a big difference in the way it feels and plays.

FWIW, I don't play 360 BPM or two bass drums; I do play heel up most of the time; I use a hard felt beater; my 22" PS3 batter head is probably a bit tighter than most (sorry, no drum dial or other quantitative measuring tool).

Let us know what you find that works best for you!
