My band are working out a cover of this cracker.
Seems straightforward enough, then I thought:
do I hear the drummer playing the rim of his toms?
He's doing something awkward judging by his facial expression...
Our rehearsal space is a wooden shed.
Wood walls and wood floor too.
We're trying to record some demos of our songs - but my bass drum is resonating ridiculosly and way too loud. Apart from removing the reso head and filling it up like a front loading washing machine - is there anything that...
It's just an old floor tom in an antique shop that's been brush painted - but I'm curious what it was in its heyday.
Nice Art Deco lugs on it (and slotted rods).
Here's a song I've just rediscovered since learning to play drums.
The sheer coiled-up energy in this groove blows my mind. I quite literally HAVE to jump up and dance around every time I hear it.
What's the secret? (Beside an ace singer and song, obvs)
Is it my imagination or is the drummer...
Has this been spotted by Drummerworld yet?
A talk on drum construction - I'm only half way through - but it's an eye-opener. The construction of Ludwigs into the sixties is truly gruesome! 😨

Asking for a friend - counting is not his core strength. 🙄
Hi, anyone who's a fan of Soul/ Motown drumming should have a peek at this guy's playlist: I love his big open drum sound and choice of tracks.
My new fave resource for drum demos!
Hi, E Kit boffins - any ideas on this problem?
I've got a pretty basic Session Pro DD505 kit (bit of a 'stencil' kit - Millenium do one that is visually identical) - one day the pedal went inop, so I bought a second hand replacement, but no joy.
The hihat will only make the 'closed' sound when...
Rick Beato just completed the set of Police interviews with his Stewart Copeland interview.
Stewart as painfully introverted as ever.
At one point about halfway through, I think Rick gets a word in edgeways.
I'm in my first band with some highly experienced gigging musicians - last week we went to a local recording studio to capture a couple of our original songs.
I had suggested the band record Scratch Tracks on my phone of us playing the songs before we went so I could have them in my headphones...
