Never saw him credited with BB King's "Thrill Is Gone" but...
could be said- sounds more Like Bernard than
especially the 'odd tom start fill intro...
every credit says herb Lovelle..
find where it credits Bernard -it does sound like Bernard
from now on I'll think that way

Herb Lovelle? (a lefty) or Bernard..

that's a NY Scene MD from 79 very rare link I bookmarked

I’ve always know “Thrill is Gone” to be Herbie.

This article credits Bernard on it but it also credits him on “When a Man Loves a Woman” which was most certainly not him.

Had way too much fun re-living that MD article. Some important info:

Zildjian has a new line of Earth cymbals. These could be big! Keep an eye out.

Louie Bellson backing Wayne Newton at the Desert Inn is a vibe I can get with. Ed Shaughnessy at the Holiday Inn in Elizabeth, NJ a different vibe but I can do both.

If you’re into jazz, better check into Pearl!

I would have loved to see Basie & Butch at Disneyland in 79. Before my time, but even when I was a kid later on I remember "swing night" at the Carnation Plaza on Main Street. Good times.

That was really fun to read. I've actually never read a drum mag, let alone a vintage one, but now I'm hooked. Looks like I'm going to have to start a new ill advised hobby of collecting old drum mags. I just convinced myself to get out of collecting old sci fi & gaming mags, so leaves a bit of room for useless, money sinking nostalgia my wife won't understand.
