Drum Craft Gone?

Does anyone know what's going on with Drum Craft Drums? They had just launched a cool Tailor Store option to customize Series 8 kits, and Conn-Selmar was the North American distributor. Recently, I've heard rumors that Drum Craft may have folded or lost Conn-Selmar? But I've also heard that they are still available.

Is this a reliable drum company to invest in?

I know this is a very old thread before my time on DW. However, I thought some people may have an interest in this.
I have never heard of this company myself until yesterday. I was looking at the MusicRadar web site and they had several articles about this company's drums. If I am not mistaken this is a German drum manufacturer. They have a good selection of snare drums, and they even manufacture a 3mm Bell Brass snare.

If anyone is familiar with this company from the old days or owns their snares or drums, it would be great to hear your experiences.

They made good drums before they went into hibernation. I have some series 8 birch shells that sound nice.

I tried to look into them recently as I need a matching bass drum but I never got a response to my email, they appeared to be in some sort of restarting phase according to their website.

All the big brands make great drums, I can imagine there not being much room for competition. Maybe it was a false start.

I remember that the Drumcraft project was born under the aegis of GEWA around 2009. As far as I know, the brand was then somehow taken over after a period of crisis by the large German distributor Thomann in 2022 and now three lines (Series 3, 4 and 6) are offered. Drumcraft has also recently started producing presumably high-quality metal snare drums. Distribution, I believe, is entirely handled by Thomann.

A good ten years ago I could briefly try out a Drumcraft at a shop here in Switzerland. I don't remember what series it was, but I remember being very positively impressed: powerful, precise, aesthetically beautiful and with very interesting hardware (I know it was designed by people who had previously worked at Audi).

Searching for 'Drumcraft' gives almost 300 results on the Thomann website (snares, drumkits, hardware) : https://www.thomann.nl/search.html?sw=drumcraft
Probably Thomann took over the brand some time ago, the Drumcraft website also refers to them (check Imprint).
Not probably, for sure. That's what I wrote above: «the brand was then somehow taken over after a period of crisis by the large German distributor Thomann in 2022»: https://www.musicradar.com/news/drumcraft-returns-as-thomann-announces-revival-of-greman-brand

I remember them they had a matte finish unusual; Could have gven Sonor (Mercedes) a run Drum Craft (Audi...

Sonor could use a homegrown German competitor
That would be interesting- if just for variety

In China they are enjoying a sort of resurgence, co-operating with music schools etc.. I'd prefer if they could offer slightly more size and finish options.

you're referring to Drum Craft right? @Iristone
By more sizes do they have traditional sizes 8x12, 14x20, 14x14 16x16?
If they do no one needs more ;) What more sizes would you like or they're missing?

Nice
I don't believe they are in the United States tho +/-?

Drum Craft that is. There doesn't seem to be a 14x20 or 14x22 kick, or any individual add-on toms.
I've also noticed that the high-end lines are gone. Maybe Thomann uses Drum Craft as a lower-end only brand, similar to Harley Benton and Millenium?

Their lower line is the Series 3.. and then they have the Series 4 and the mid to upper level Series 6.

there's a made In China / sourced in China/ not home grown - unless they state differently
no "About" page- they're about as faceless as the latest Premier brand
- ah that's too harsh- New Premier has some history to recite forward Genista lug etc

I think the current iteration of DrumCraft is basically like Sonor's China-made line--German "ideas" but made in China. Drums Bonedo has some demo videos of the kits.

I don't really know their quality, but before Thomann increased their prices a year ago (again) it was the first time I ever saw Maple/Walnut shells under a thousand euros. Drums sure seem robust enough, and the Bell Brass is the cheapest bell brass in production currently I would say. Really tempting to try them. You can also get concert toms as add ons and many more, I think in Europe it surpassed the Stage Custom offerings in terms of variety of shell configuration. You can even get power tom sizes, its really impressive.
