    Yamaha SD-3465

The inward bead has been a Yamaha thing for a long time. Just browsing thru Reverb, I found the Mike Bordin Sig., the Roy Haynes Sig., and both the Steve Gadd Sig. Black Aluminum and Nickel Over Brass snares to all have that inward facing bead. Wouldn't surprise me though, that Gadd talked...

Yes. At the bottom of the badge, in the black field. Really hard to read.

    Yamaha SD-3465

The aluminum SD-3465 is in transit to me right now (coming from Austin, TX.), but I am familiar with the Evans Genera. It's similar to a Powerstroke3, with a built on richie ring. I had one on my Musashi 13x6.5 for quite a while. I've also used Genera Dry, Genera HD and Genera HD Dry on my...

    Yamaha SD-3465

Hard to find a lot of catalog info. on Yamaha. I can go back to 86/87 where the fancy Yamaha snares don't seem to be "proprietary" to the RC line per say ..... but certainly reflect the RC line. https://www.drumarchive.com/Yamaha/yamaha1986.pdf Earlier 78 catalog shows snares that pattern the...

    Yamaha SD-3465

I believe all these snares were a stand alone series, but I could be wrong. I also have the SD-2340, SD-2355, and SD-4365. This aluminum snare is "in transit" so I don't have my hands on it yet. From what I do know, these drums were MIJ while a lot of Yamaha's production was coming from...

    Yamaha SD-3465

So ..... I just pulled the trigger on this snare. Hoping it scratches my "aluminum snare" itch. Hoping it is Supra like, or Supra adjacent. Certainly looks like it could be, but I've never seen one of these before. Anyone here ever played/owned one ????

    Identify this Ludwig drum set?

Your B/O badges have rounded corners. That started around 1979. Shells would be 6 ply maple/poplar/maple.

    Buying stuff

I'm a little older than that. Ringo's rooftop kit. And then later, John Bonham. As soon as I could afford a second crash, I bought one.

    Buying stuff

Correctomundo Sir !!!! I've been a 1 rack tom, 2 floor tom guy forever. I've got bigger kits ..... and smaller ones. Do whatever you want. Most gigs can be done with a 4 or 5 piece kit, hats, a ride and 2 crash. I could pair that down to 2 crash/rides (Sabian HH Vanguards are fantastic).

Picking up the drums again after 20 years

Welcome to Drummerworld & back to drumming. Great choice of kit. Smart choice to buy used. I'd say very little has changed over the last 20 years, as far as acoustic drums and cymbals goes. Maybe a few more cymbal companies to choose from, and a few less drum companies, but that's about it...

    Yamaha 7000

No band in particular ...... but  ....... the guy I bought the 14x10 and 18x16 from had a 26x14 also. I offered to buy that too, but he wanted to keep it, and was moving to Texas (5 years ago). So, I played the waiting game, and finally it paid off. I love me two floor toms, and I'll...
