I believe I first became aware of Narada on Tommy Bolins Marching powder on the Teaser CD. I was flipped the frick out. Then on Arethas Pink Cadillac where he grooved that beyond what one might think possible. Is he a monster player?...beyond that.
I saw him the second time I saw Mahavishnu Orchestra
(1st time was with Billy)
White Gretsch double bass Vision Of the Emerald Beyond was a thing for a while Gayle Moran Jean Luc-Ponty Ralph Armstrong....miracle I can remember that Symphony Hall Boston in 75 or so

I agree with @Hercules that Visions of the Emerald Beyond may be some of his finest drumming. And I actually prefer that album over Birds of Fire, as great as BOF is. I find Narada’s playing on that album to be more fluid yet with all the technical nuance that the music demanded. I have played Visions so often that I will often put it on just for background music while other times I need my power drumming fix. Narada may be one of the most underrated monster drummers. He’s also highly successful as a producer of others. And he may be the only drummer I’ve ever seen play traditional grip with gloves.
