Best Double Bass Drum Pedal

I use a yamaha direct drive but the axis are supposed to be very cool.
To me, what makes a good pedal "good" is how the individual pieces work. If there is a lot of slack between components (very high tolerances) then you will inevitably feel it when you go from that to a better (also usually more expensive) pedal. The better pedal is going to have low tolerances meaning there will be no play or it will be so minimal you won't feel it, and in turn you would be able to play better/easier. This is not as obvious with single pedals because there is no slave pedal involved and a lot less moving parts.
Yamaha pedals (specifically the direct drive model have low tolerances so you probably don't feel any slack anywhere. as mentioned before, I would add the improved shaft (because it eliminates slack from the slave pedal completely) so that your slave pedal basically feels as if you were playing a single pedal, almost like you are cheating.

As far as the Axis.. I can tell you they felt great to me, super light and very responsive. I have not tried the direct drive Yamaha's so I can't comment much on them other than the fact that they look very well built (I have seen them in person). I also tried the Pearl Demon Drives and they felt way too heavy for me, I'm sure that I would have gotten used to them. Also maybe by now you are used to how the Yamaha pedals feel, it is possible that if you tried the Axis you might not like them..(maybe too light for you).

I just got these in.

Curious how they feel compared to Yamaha , DW 9002, and the PDP Boa’s I have used in the past.
How is the lag in the slave pedal?

...aaand you changed your username again:)

Basically non existant.

I might upgrade the cardanas to the same as on the boa and add the Canopus parts. But only for added comfort and speed overall.

Haha yes. I did.

As im planning to move with my family out of the area, I thought it would be good to use the same name as the name as on the global sales platforms.

I have the DW 5000 Accelerator and another DW 5000 model (forget what it's called). Both work quite well and very responsive, to me anyway. I also had a mid-grade Gibraltar double pedal that really surprised me. I was very light, quick, and was fairly cheap. That was a darn good pedal for being a mid-range pedal.

Gibraltar do good value solid pedals. I recorded 3 studio albums, including my last studio album back in 2011 on a Gibraltar Prowler double pedal before switching to a Tama Iron Cobra Power Glide! :) (y)
