Been thinking about how most of us rarely go under 16" for crashes. Anyone here go less? I'm in the market for a 14" crash & wanted to pick some brains about how they sit in a mix and how youse all feel about them.

For me it was having as many drums and cymbals as possible as a teenager in 1987. I went through my Neil Peart phase thinking that’s what drummers did to be good. Luckily age and wisdom took over and I learned to do more with less.

I have 14x10 & a 16x16 concert toms currently with Remo CS black dots. No matter how I tweak the tuning, they just sound really “boingy” (if that makes sense). Should I go to a dual-ply head? Coated or clear? I’m not sure why I can’t get it right, but feel a head change might be prudent. Thoughts?
