I can’t get on with the hi hat stand though - firstly you can’t adjust the tension which to me is very stiff (I know some people have taken it apart and added another spring in to make it looser but I don’t fancy doing that and shouldn’t have to on a brand new stand that costs $160!). I could probably adapt to the tension over time but a bigger issue is the legs have to be spread out quite far which results in me not being able to fit it in my regular weekly venue, I get about 5ft width so every inch counts!
So that got returned and I bought a second crosstown snare stand, on my smaller kit I converted the 12 inch snare that came with it into a floor tom so it means both snare and floor tom are on these new lightweight stands.
Overall, I’ve got the weight right down so I’m happy

I may be in the minority here but I've gotten to a point that I actually like less adjustability on most pieces. The more things to fiddle with the more things I obsess about. Hi hat stand/pedal tension is something that would keep me awake at night. I recently got a stand with no adjustment and now I don't think about it. I have changed gear so often in the 25 or so years I've been playing drums that I can adjust to pretty much anything.
Usually I wouldn’t be bothered about leg width but compared to the hi hat stand I was using it takes up 10cm more width so it won’t fit in this venue.
Sometimes I think we’d be better just having a cajon but in a city rumoured to have 365 pubs, we are one of only 4 open mics that provide drums so it’s a bit of a selling point.

Tbh hi hat is the only thing I like to adjust tension wise. I’ve a disability with my back which doesn’t help so I need to be as comfortable as possible. Otherwise most of my gear stays the same - I have a cymbal stand I used at my 1st ever gig, I’m approaching my 1500th gig soon!
I have 3 cross town cymbal stands and have been wondering about the snare stands. Are they pretty sturdy? I'm using a Tama stage master and it wobbles a little from side to side.

I’m not a heavy player, there’s a slight wobble but I’ve got that from just about every snare stand I’ve used. Sometimes I have to carry my gear 5 minutes to the venue so that benefit outweighs everything.
My last purchase before the weekend; a snareweight. I know the reviews are a bit hit and miss but so far I like the slight change of tone it gives.View attachment 158272
A DW Design series acrylic 14" snare came across my feed on Reverb last week. On a whim, I clicked the little heart icon to add it to my watch list. Moments later, I got an offer from a seller for the same drum, brand new, at a slight discount. A moment after that, I got another such offer, also new, and with free shipping, but this time for 15% off. I thought about it for a few days and then made the mistake of mentioning it to my good lady wife, aka my enabler. "Oh, you should get it," she said.
So I did.
Did I need it? I did not. Did my inner 13-year-old squeal just a bit, upon playing his first acrylic drum? He did.
Pearl Session Studio Select 18” floor tom just arrived today.
I originally purchased in late October from a reputable dealer on Reverb that showed the item as “in stock.” To get an email a couple of days later that said “order is in with Pearl and special orders can’t be canceled once they are accepted by Pearl.”
Not really needing it immediately I let it play out.
Finally it’s here and it’s a monster of a drum!
I still need to find 18” die cast hoop for batter and get some heads for the top and bottom.
