Bill Ward with Black Sabbath Back To The Beginning

when I saw him you know what he had? a White Marine pearl Buddy Rich-like set slingerland.

that was over 100 years ago.

I'd rather have the drums and cymbals that were on -regardless of the genre the original records than any new stuff.
they have..the tone.
``
now to the garage and to my Fred Below/ Stax/Elvin Jones drum and cymbal replica set.

I love how people who disagree with me automatically assume the position that I am coming from a place of ignorance and am unaware that this was standard practice for a good 5+ years on many hit records. No....uh, crap, sherlock!

(have to remember this is a G rated board for some reason)

Anyway, I know tastes and such change, and there was a lot of experimentation going on, but I think it goes without saying that this was a phase that didn't really last past the 70s, and we've never really gone back to it.

These records are good because the musicianship (and songs) were good, not necessarily because of the gear. On the topic of Bill Ward, while I love his playing on those first four albums, it isn't necessarily my favorite drum sound of the era, let alone of all time.

I mean, if what you've got is a Paul Revere and the Raiders clip to call me out on my "dumb take" I'm not sure there's anything else I can say.
It was a hit and I had the single, if that helps.

It would probably be best if you went ahead and stopped commenting , you are right !!
Glad this happened.

You know what , I’m sorry I reacted in this manner .
Apologies to you …….i know better .
We all have our hot button topics. Mine is people who think Chips Ahoys are actually better than the knockoffs. Ok, if you want to spend $2 more, that’s on you, but don’t tell me I don’t know my cookies, dang nab it all!

I missed the entire show... cable went out in the twight Saturday morning, just restored today. I have a 9+ hour capture of the broadcast downloaded that I will take the day tomorrow and enjoy.

The clips I've checked out sound good, I'm glad to see Bill back where he should be... Geezer's bass tone is amazing. That custom Ashdown rig and Lakland basses really did the trick! It helps to have Geezer's hands & heart too.

Looks like Sharon got after people uploading the actual feed for Ozzy and Sabbath to YouTube.
Because all revenue from the streaming went to charity (as did everything after costs for the live show show), so it shouldn't be a surprise that they don't want it up on Facebook, other than what they released.

On the one on hand, he didn't attack the drums with the ferocity that he used to. He seemed to be hitting them rather politely.

On the other hand, he sounded sharp and like time hadn't passed. He sounded ferocious!

Also, a bit interesting that he was back to Ludwig after being with Tama for a long time.

It must have been odd for him not to be able to see Ozzy. From his vantage point, all he would see is the back of Ozzy's giant chair.

I understand why the set was short, but it would have been cool if they could have played a bit longer.

Overall, a fitting end to a legendary band.
Had the band not had their falling out with him in 2012 or whenever it was he would have been endorsing and playing a Premier kit, at least until the company imploded in 2014/15. There are pictures of him with the green sparkle fade kit Premier built him knocking around the Premier Facebook groups.

You gotta hand it to them, The Rolling Stones, Ringo, McCartney, Iron Maiden, many more that still get up there for the fans at that age. It would be a horrible thing for an audience but I'd sure rather kick it and fall off the drum throne then die some horrible slow death.
Absolutely!

Here's my summer concert lineup:

James Taylor 77 (July 4th @ Tanglewood)
Bob Dylan 84
Willie Nelson 92😳
Eric Clapton 80
Lynyrd Skynyrd (Johnny Van Zant) 65
Billy Currington just a kid at 51

Rock On!

I read that this was Black Sabbath's swan song.

On a separate note I read the estranged Gallagher brothers have reunited Oasis after a very long hiatus.

...but I digress

forgot one @joedrum

;) & he's coming to Picksburgh!

I don't know if he's trying to do himself or us in or what
