i also have a great respect for Danny Carey, Mike Portnoy, Steve Gadd, Vinnie Coliauta, Stewart Copeland, Dom Famularo but chose not to put them in the list as my interest lies in using your drum technique as a means to an end, that "end" being grooving, playing with feel and soul and being creative with it. peace
 
Jon Theodore, Mike Portnoy and Neil Peart = best drummers!!!!
Epecially Theodore cuz he has his own style, he doesn't sound like other drummers.
Love him!!!!

I have to "Salute" all Drum Corps players around the world as my favorite Drummers, They play for the pure love of it, and are completely Dedicated to Mastering their instrument to Perfection no matter what the sacrifice or cost needed to put in to accomplish that Goal.

Neil Peart, Joey Jordison, and Lars Ulrich are my favs...they all three kick major ass.

Neil is my all time favorite but Joey Jordison is an inspiration to me because hearing his playing in Slipknot drew me to playing a more metal sound on my drums. Plus the dude's fast as hell and he makes it sound great, no matter what other people say. Lars is a favorite because I'm a huge Metallica fan and he just has badass beats.

Another person I didn't list is Rick Allen of Def Leppard. I didn't put him as a favorite because I'm not really big on him but I consider him a hero. Just because after losing a freakin' arm he still wanted to play the drums and he did.

So yeah. woohoo. :p

Apparantly you haven't heard of a drummer by the name of Neil Peart. If he isn't on your
list, no one should be, 'cept Mr. Bernard "Buddy" Rich! You mention Mike Portnoy, but
not Neil Peart? Who do you think inspired Mike Portnoy? Steve Gadd NOT on your list?
Vinnie Colaiuta NOT on your list? And your explanation why is VERY hard to understand!

Wilfredo played with David Lindley and El Rayo X. I have seen the best and after I got home after seeing him at a show I immediately ran to my drums to play. It was 1:00 AM. Not the best in chops or feel but there was something about him that just made me want to play.

Jeff Pocarro's session work is legendary. He plays on about 1/3 of the vinyl I own (and I don't own any ToTo). His approach to playing, feeling, groove, or whatever you want to call it is unmatched.
