Drummerworld site?

I'm confident no-one will spell my name correctly in 50 years. No-one does now and it's quite remarkable that people will be looking directly at it (such as on a credit card) and still spell it incorrectly.

If anything, I'll be remembered as the guy lots of people called "Stro," even though he doesn't prefer that shortening of his name.

Seriously though - I don't care about being remembered. When I go for a hike, I go to see the world, and I try to change it as little as possible in my passing through.

Same with life, for the most part! Lol
Huh. I really like this even as it's not at all the way I'm wired. (Other than the hiking bit--I'm of course with you on that.)

I hadn't really noticed the new webpage so decided to check it out. Every single news article is authored by Austin Weatherhead. Frankly, I see that as NOT a good thing. I would think having multiple news sources would be a sign of legitimacy. But with only one person putting up news articles makes me concerned that this new owner really doesn't have much of a plan here. It seems that change is the only thing they may be after here. And in my view, change is NOT what is needed as it relates to content. And I don't take comfort in hearing Austin say that all those drummers and the respective content that brought most of us to this forum is "still available". If it's still available, why not keep it up there? Just removing what might arguably be some of the most valuable content from our view suggests that they really don't see that content as all that valuable. I hope I'm wrong about all this, but I'm not encouraged by what I'm seeing thus far. Call me a pessimist.
Hey @MntnMan62 thanks for bringing this up. We are adding that information back onto our site. We just needed to undergo some formatting changes to ensure the content is up to date, has the correct images we're allowed to use (for copyright purposes), and can be hosted properly on our new servers. I know change is difficult, especially when our site has been the same for so long. However, I assure you these changes will be helpful in the long run, and they will allow us to have a better site with more information and resources. As for the content, yes, I'm the one handling the news right now. With our current resources, that will continue. However, we of course want to make sure many drummers and contributors have a voice. That's why I would love to take some time to gather more input from other drummers here in the forum. Please feel free to message me anytime here directly. We would love to include more of your input on drummers, highlights, trends, news, opinions, and other topics. I'm happy to share some quotes in our content from any of you here in the forum when it makes sense for the topic.

Don't be a stranger! Shoot me a message.

New poster here. To reiterate what a lot of people here have said, the main reason I loved Drummerworld was the profiles. Imagine my surprise to find them gone. I hope you fulfill your promise to restore them, in full.

Original poster here. Just came back to say that again today, I needed the Drummerworld encyclopedia, but sadly it is still missing. A friend brought his 12 year old drum-obsessed son over because he wanted me to evaluate his skill level, make recommendations on what he should be working on, getting his first “real” kit, etc. I wanted to make a few suggestions of players to check out, read their bios, watch a few videos, see their setups, etc…and a month ago we had a wonderfully curated resource here on Drummerworld that I would have turned him lose on. No doubt, he would have discovered dozens of other drummers via the site that might have influenced and shaped his playing, setup, gear choices, etc. But, that resource remains unavailable. Why take it down? Build the new site offline while leaving the old site intact. Once the new site is ready, then make it live. Overall, incredibly disappointing. The best curated history of drummers just evaporated. The primary driver of traffic to this site, and the reason most of us found, and have stayed in this forum…just gone. Definitely a surprise gut punch for the entire drumming community.

@austinz when is DW Forum going to get it's little icon identifier up in the Tabs. Thinks it's now a little red circle with a "DW" in the center
Is that hard to do; been missing for a few months

Actually maybe it's a red square with "dw" in the middle, maybe
It's there when one goes to the www.drummerworld.com page

When I handed over Drummerworld to Savage Ventures I admit it was a good deal finally for me.

They promised to keep the forum as is - so it is still the same.

For the main Drummerworld Website with the Drummer List and Lessons Section I was aware, that it comes to an end eventually, because it's much more work in it as planned - with daily updates, death of drummers, changing bands and gear...and the personal contact with the featured drummers is interrupted....

Also the transformation to Wordpress is critical as I know from my own experience.

I read here, that there are some plans to reinstall the drummers.

So: looking forward and NO, there are no copyright issues or pending cases in this matter.

Bernhard

My drum library is gone....

I haven't been on here much lately.
I originally came here after buying a new (my first ever-at over 50, mind you!) drum set and having absolutely no clue about many of the nuances of playing, setup, tuning...you name it.
After trying other drum forums that just didn't seem to work for me for one reason or several others, I found this site.
It was cool here and I learned a lot from some really cool people and had some pretty funny, freaky and interesting interactions.
Never went back to the others, cuz this one "worked"

My dad used to always say to me: "If it works, don't fix it."

If it gets monetized to the detriment of content quality, it will be sad.

Greetings dear drummers and peers. Do you know where are the biographies of the drummers ? Are they gone forever? It was my favourite section. Younger generations used to learn more information thru that encyclopedic part of Drummerworld (A-Z) alphabetical order articles/bios. Now it is news feed only oriented !

Thanks

There’s another thread about it. The site is under new ownership and they removed the old content. They claimed to have retained it and have said it might return in some form down the road.

I am also super disappointed about it, a huge resource loss.

I miss it too. I don't know anything about website design but I don't know what takes so long about reposting all the old info.

I'm worried it's not coming back, and didn't have to be deleted. This whole thing has a very "DOGE-y" feel to it.

there is some truth- it was stated that some of the bio's well needed updates (death's..) Not really much more than that tho huh

All the text was fine (and links..) Just Bio birthdates need reviewed
I dunno how necessary; they could be posted as is and We could email in, who has passed etc
