Recording MIDI and audio together

This has got me banging my head off the wall, but is it possible to record MIDI and audio on Reaper - and other DAWs are available.

I've got a Behringer U-phoria which I record the noisy stuff on - using Behringer's own ASIO software. When I record keys I just plug directly into the laptop via USB and use ASIO4All for the input.

Does anyone know if it's possible to record say vocals via the Behringer, but also input the MIDI keyboard at the same time - for those Elton John moments.

There's 4 USB ports so that's not an issue, but I don't even know if it's possible for the laptop, running Windows, would allow two separate sources to record. But I bet somebody on here knows.

Thanks.

Yes it is
you have to insert a midi item or create a midi track plug your midi controller (or drum module) and record.
The Roland TD27 can record both midi and audio at the same time, then you cou use the midi with Superior Drummer, add some amazing drums, and, blend both the SD tracks with the Roland Audio and you can get some amazing sounding stuff.

Now to answer your question, yes you should be able to use one input for your voice, and the midi input for your keyboard sending midi only, but you could again also use another input to also record the audio and blend both (the original keyboard audio and whatever samples you use).

First, if your keyboard can connect to your computer via usb, then connect it that way, then in the preferences dialog in Reaper, find midi devices and enable your keyboard to be seen by reaper. If your keyboard is not listed, you might need to download a driver for it, google search it and get it.
if your keyboard does not have usb, then you can connect it via a midi cable to the back of your Behringer interface.
Depending on which scenario you have you need to see both your kb and the Behringer in Reaper (first scenario)
‘or just the Behringer (second scenario).
plug your mic and the keyboard and record.
the video below explains it a little bit better.

Ok upon re-reading your post I realize that the easiest way for you to do this is to just plug your keyboard to the Behringer and record that way. Yes it is possible to use two sources of ASIO but it is a real pain to get them to play nice if at all.

Yes. Just chose your inputs on the separate tracks (one track midi input for keys and one track audio for voice) then arm them for recording (push the red button on the track), set levels, push the record button and go.
