This has got me banging my head off the wall, but is it possible to record MIDI and audio on Reaper - and other DAWs are available.
I've got a Behringer U-phoria which I record the noisy stuff on - using Behringer's own ASIO software. When I record keys I just plug directly into the laptop via...
Just came across this on ebay. Looks like Mr B's downsizing and with less than 24 hours to go you might get something quite nice. Being sold through Graham Russell Drums, linky below.

The music business has always worked in cycles - one artist gets big, then next thing you know there's 3,000 rip offs looking for a bit of the action. Then there's the journalistic shorthand, the new Beatles, the new Nirvana, the new Amy Winehouse... So it comes down to the common denominator of...
I only change skins when they break so I'd imagine some manly tears if I go through the bass head. Decent cymbals have always been expensive - I remember much saving for a set of Paiste 404s or 505s. Nice cymbals though. But everything's gone through the roof. A nice wine I used to get for £4 a...
Jazz, like rock, has certain standards so be familiar with a few arrangements of stuff like Autumn Leaves, Misty, My Favourite things etc. Then listen to everything and be prepared to dip right down in volume. And no rimshots. As I found out the hard way!
Here's a nice masterclass in swing...
They come from Birmingham - not the Alabama one, but the one in England with an even more impenetrable accent. :)
On a side note, two of The Beat later formed Five Young Cannibals.
I think it's a great song. So does Pete Townshend.
I had a heart attack a few years back and they symptoms didn't involve the classic sore left arm. I had a burning sensation in my chest, felt like I was getting strangled then fainted. I didn't think much about it, but remembered the same thing had happened, rather embarrassingly, on the train...
With mention of Linda Rondstadt another roundabout example - Andrew Gold played drums on a couple of tracks on one of her albums, until they found Andrew's favourite drummer: Mike Botts.
The usual from me:-
Stewie Copeland;
Phil Collins mid-70s session stuff;
Bonzo probably.
And for a couple of outliers, Woody from Madness on Absolutely and Seb Shelton on Too-Rye-Ay, both done with the production team of Langer and Winstanley.
A bit of Dexy's - Plan B.
To be honest, I'm of the school who only changes heads when I put a stick through them. And it used to be common to see drummers playing manky old skins. Check out this no-hoper's tom.
I haven't read the article yet, but remember, King Crimson did a jam one night, which made the next album, and Bill B got a songwriting credit for not actually playing a thing! And he got the credit because he could have joined in with the jam but didn't. And for Fripp that was a compositional...
For the intro? Take the snare off and play the same pattern.
For other tunes you can just play the fill on the snare and throw in some rimshots for variation.
You can get 4 tones off 1 cymbal too: ride, bell, crash the edge and crash mid with the shoulder of the stick.
I only had high-hat...
