Re: 1st post! Tell me... who are your heros?

Carter Beauford is my favorite drummer, and the one who influences me the most (probably because DMB is my favorite band).

There are several others, but mainly Carter.

my only hero is NICKO MCBRAIN there are a lot of other better drummers but he is the one

Re: 1st post! Tell me... who are your heros?

Thanks everyone!!!! I'm really looking forward to being a part of this forum. I've read and learned many great things in the first day. It appears Carter Beauford has quite a fan base here and I agree with ajgdrums722 as Dave Matthews Band is one of my favorites! Can't wait to see them this year in September! The 4 nights at Red Rocks last year were by far some of the best shows I've ever seen! Carter's open-hand style allows him to do so many things that you really cannot compare him to anyone else, am I right?

Re: 1st post! Tell me... who are your heros?

Sheila E.
Daniel Adair
Neil Peart
My friend Ryan

and just regular people on this board.

Re: Your drum gods!

Most inspirational, no contest - Wilfrdo Reyes

Wilfredo played with David Lindley and El Rayo X. I have seen the best and after I got home after seeing him at a show I immediately ran to my drums to play. It was 1:00 AM. Not the best in chops or feel but there was something about him that just made me want to play.

The best:
Rod Morganstein - HELLO, why am I the first to mention him?
Vinnie Caliauta
Dennis Chambers
Martin Deller - FM. They opened for Rush. Made Neil look bland
Jack DeJohnette

The inhuman:
Dave Wekel
Simon Phillips

Jeff Pocarro's session work is legendary. He plays on about 1/3 of the vinyl I own (and I don't own any ToTo). His approach to playing, feeling, groove, or whatever you want to call it is unmatched.

My favourite drummers - Terry Bozzio, Chester Thompson, Ian Paice, John Bonham, Morgan Ågren is good to.

Jeremy Hummel - formerly of Breaking Benjamin
Chad Kent - Atomship
John Blackwell - Prince
Chris Adler - Lamb of God
Carlos Aguilar - formerly of 40 Below Summer

Thomas Haake (Meshuggah)
Chris Adler (Lamb Of God)
Mikko Siren
Inferno (Behemoth)
Pete Sandoval (Morbid Angel)
Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater)
Dave Lombardo (Slayer)
Chris Pennie (The Dillinger Escape Plan)
Jordan Manchino (As I Lay Dying)
Spag (Mudvayne)
George Kollias (Nile)
Vinnie Paul (Pantera)

John Bonham
Ginger Baker
Steve Gadd
Steve Jordan
Joe Morello
Nick Mason
Bernard Purdie
Neil Peart

Those are my favorties...even though some of the 'Greats' are no there
