My big announcement - I'm moving to Nashville!

I feel a bit used when these posters only appear when they’re sharing their YouTube/fb/instagram or a book they’re flogging.

Especially when I don’t have Facebook and have no idea what was posted 🫤

Fantastic! Gina G Osmar is moving to Nashville from Texas (Austin area). It's a bittersweet situation (leaving friends behind), but she's going to take us all on her adventure of making the move and figuring out everything there is to know about getting gigs in Country's music capital.

Son of Vistalite Black has mashed the "subscribe" and "like buttons" and will keep the Luddites and Tech-skeptics informed as Gina G makes the nearly 900-mile move in her quest for influencer nirvana.

When people do this on forums, I just ignore them, and I've had FB for years. I stopped answering those "Hey, I'm doing a survey for my college project [or potential new product or whatever]" a few years ago.

Thank you, SoVB. What would we do without your dedication to informing us about all the cool people? ;)

Gina's been a member since 2009. For me, personally, that lends any given member some leeway. When it's someone who doesn't just spam us all the time and is outside the majority demo on here, that -- again, for me personally -- makes me lend them even more leeway. When they post a link here, I may or may not click through, but I get it: whether any of us like it or not, clicks and views can have a material effect on a professional's income. So dislike the game, not the player.

Best of luck with the move, Gina. Hope Music City is everything you could want.

She's 25 now I think. She's been a member since she was something like 9 years old. Wow.

I don’t have a problem with her posting this here even if it is a link to a social media page. However, I’ve been hearing a lot lately about a number of people moving to Nashville to pursue their musical dreams. My question is does this still make sense given how music seems to be able to be made literally anywhere these days? Sort like the question posed in the thread asking where the center of the recording industry is now with what seems to be a consensus that there isn’t a “center” anymore. I suppose it makes sense for someone who is located where there is little live music being performed. Gina is leaving Georgetown, TX which isn’t far from Austin. Why go all the way to Nashville when you already live less than an hour from one of the best musical destinations in the country?

I wish her luck and hope it all works out well for her.

Yeah, the "big announcement" for me was just an ad to make a Facebook account for which I have no intention of doing. I came here to help cheer on a fellow member's accomplishment and feel like I got fleeced.

Why do people move from Nashville to Austin? Part of it is a change of scenery maybe. Part of it may be the location is better for the type of music she plays. And part of it is it’s easier to do business with people when you’re in the same area.

Maybe Gina doesn't participate much anymore because every time she posts a vid of her playing, people on here tell her she needs to play "normally," meaning quit doing fancy fun stuff and only play the boring beat like the recording has.

Checked some of the posts and this is a bit of an exaggeration, Jimmy.

Admittedly not checked each one, but going back the last few videos all I’ve seen are positive comments from the members here.

You naughty boy.

I didn’t just comment on it, or post it earlier because it was a video that I made that took a lot of editing. Unfortunately, this is the format that is currently, “the big thing“.And it’s hard to get these things to translate from one format to another. Sorry to send you to another site.
My Big Announcement Here it is.

Nashville cats, been playin' since they's babies Nashville cats, get work before they're two.....well, there's thirteen hundred and fifty two guitar pickers/drum players in Nashville, and they can pick/hit more notes than the number of ants on a Tennessee ant hill. Yeah, there's thirteen hundred and fifty two guitar pickers/drummers in Nashville, and anyone that unloads their gear could play twice as better than I will

I gotta say I've lived in Nashville and played in Nashville, and I've visited Austin and played in Austin and let me tell you IMHO Austin is the cat's meow the cat's pajamas. Nashville has no soul anymore. More corporate than musical - a tourist town feeding off nostalgia of Hank and Loretta and Patsy and Tammy and George et al. Nashville is now Blake Shelton. You can keep Nashville give me Austin any day
