Taking a step back

Andy

Honorary Member
Bernhard has asked me to inform members that I have decided to step back from moderation duties. This is a decision taken in the context of personal circumstances affecting my availability, & a desire to reprioritise my time. Discharging mod duties is time consuming when performed with diligence, & I’m an “all or nothing” guy.

I’ll still be around contributing as a standard forum member, but please refer to the mod team for matters requiring forum attention.

Thankfully, the need to use my ban hammer was rare. I’m very grateful for the support of the membership, & cooperation even in infrequent times of discourse.

Maintaining inclusivity was (& still is) important to me, & very much informed my moderation style. We often forget this forum is visited by children, those who’s first language is not English, those who’s reference points differ from our own, etc. Diversity is the very lifeblood of an international forum.

Keep it fun, but keep it respectful.

Andy.

Some very wise words Andy.

You are a terrific drummer and thank you for all your advice and hard work.

I'm certain that your moderation was intentionally transparent, and dutifully so. Keeping one's proclivities at bay as a moderator contravenes basic human nature. Well played.

Keep it fun, but keep it respectful.
and Keep it Simple! 🙌 ;)

Wise choice. Thanks for taking on the responsibility of being a moderator-a thankless job. Glad you're "sticking" around because your contributions have been "awesome "over the years. On a personal note your sincere constructive critiques of my drumming (whenever I'd post my crappy videos) was always appreciated. I'm a better man for knowing you Andy. I don't think I have that same impact on people because I'm still crazy after all these years. Take good care of yourself-I've been reminding myself of same thing of late.

Thank you for your hard work here as a Mod. over the years, I'm glad you'll still be found on the forum as member.
Drummerworld has big shoes to fill now...

I'm glad you're lightening your load Andy.

I'm wondering how you will be filling your time.

I'm guessing you still have to jet all over the place for your consulting gig

I'm wondering about the future of Fired Up

I hope you will be happy, no matter what you are doing

I can't picture you watching TV all day, it's not you.

Andy -

I understand you will still be around in the forum, now having said that:

You are an inspiring spirit who possesses strong medicine. 🪶
Best of luck to you my friend in all your endeavors and interests.
Thank you.

Regards,

Randy

Take care Andy! Hope you stick around a little while at least!!

Thank you all for your kind words & observations on my inability to keep still for long.

My intention is to stick around & contribute to the forum - I’m not going away voluntarily anytime soon.

I hope all is well with you , Andy!

Take care!
Great to hear from you Kelly. I’m kind of ok, thanks for asking, but needing to make changes.

How is Chris doing?

A really good good man has opened the door to leave the building - but thanks - he stays here. To know the priorities at a certain point in live is a wonderful thing - I thank Andy for everything he has done for us and his wisdom - he is the real gentleman.
I’ve said this to you privately Bernhard, but to repeat publicly - thank you for your support over the years, it’s hugely appreciated, & has positively affected my life more than you’ll ever know. I’m sure that applies to many others too. I have met many gloriously drum bug bitten characters via the forum, all of whom have enriched my life with their own brand of barely controlled dysfunctionality.

I saw your previous post about stepping down, but this post is way more of a reality really bites, punch you in the face sort of post.

So sorry you’ve been forced to make some hard choices, but glad you‘ve made them to allow your self much needed time to just relax and enjoy. I‘m a do a thousand things at once type too and the last few years in particular it’s become more and more a reality there’s going to be a forced end to it by choice or worse. You’ve made the right choice. Sure have enjoyed learning from you as a drummer, drum maker and mod and most notably, an incredibly wise person. Glad you’re still staying on the forum.

Thank you for your expression of appreciation - it goes to all mod’s here.

I'm wondering how you will be filling your time.
No danger of running out of things to achieve, just a shift of focus.

I'm guessing you still have to jet all over the place for your consulting gig
Yes, that puts the food on the table, but I will be scaling back over time.

I'm wondering about the future of Fired Up
I’ll see how everything sits at the end of this season, & take it from there.

I can't picture you watching TV all day, it's not you.
Hell no - shoot me now! We’re here but for a fleeting moment. The very idea of vegetating whilst consuming commercial bile designed to be easily consumed, is no route to fulfilment.

All the respect, brother. I was just changing the head on my snare yesterday and I caught a glimpse of your signature on the inside, and it brought a huge smile to my face. Mrs P and I wish for your continued health and success.
