Buddhist Drummers for everyone over 40

why for everyone over 40?
iam 23 ^-^
i like this old man. he got some skills and even knows the dalai lama!

You're probably more enlightened than most, regardless of age.

There 's another story; you may like this one.

A young boy asks a master the meaning of life. The master says "go look at your reflection in the lake." The boy goes down to the lake and looks as his reflection; he sees an old man, gets scared and runs away. Ten years later the boy now twenty comes back and again asks the master the meaning of life. The master says, "go look at yourself in the lake." The young man goes down to the lake, look at his reflection and sees an old man. He gets scared and runs away. To make the story short, he repeats this scenario every ten years, at 30-40-50 ..all the way up to 80. When he is eighty he sees his reflection in the lake. I've told that story many times, and am surprised that many people don't get it.

well. that was interesting, and not quite what i expected. drumming was only a small aspect of that video. i get the impression that he is 99% teacher and 1% drummer.

Well I guess I am one of many because I don't get it?

Tell me if im close...

But it sounds to me like the moral of the story is that, you know you will eventually grow old and die, and by knowing that, you should live your life to the fullest.

idk.

I think i agree alot with what dairyairman said. He is more a teacher than a drummer. And at the end when they say how he is ill and stuff like that yet still keeps drumming is a type of symbolism, that even when life is difficult you just have to keep going and trying to get the most out of a bad situation.
He seems like a great guy who really sees the good in people. I especially liked it when he spoke about people living in darkness seeing the light.

Its a great video.

Edit- it took like 5 mins to type that because i have huge narsty (yes with an R) blisters from drumming too much haha.

You got all that from the video. Do you read Mandarin or Tibetanese, whatever it was? But I think you guys missed the greater part of the metaphor.

Of course, there's no one right answer. But think it is important to realize that he doesn't drum because he is a drummer; he drums as a way of life, as a spiritual practice. It is a much greater metaphor.

You can say he's more a teacher than a drummer because he is playing drums in the temple. Would he be more of a drummer if he played with a rock band? Which is really more meaningful? Do we need to make that distinction? Would he be more of a drummer if he played like this?
