By simple material comparison the wooden tipped sticks will be more mellow than the nylon tipped sticks. You can test that with a ride cymbal playing with exactly the same velocity (force) and even record it if you want just so that you don't think that your ears are lying to you.
Now from mellower to more musical.... that depends on what you find to be musical.
