One favorite drum track you enjoy

oh lord...this could be a long list for me...

this is the first one that comes to mind

"Falsa Biana" - from The Jeff Hamilton Trio's It's Hamilton Time
- just trying to get the vibe down; AND the brush technique; AND the drum tuning; AND the whole entire rest of the album...

.

1968-69
originally for a film
Herbie Hancock composer
drummer Albert "Tootie" Heath b. 1935
Has about 3 or 4 "study" approach areas in there that interests me

what's yours?
Tootie's Heath's playing on that album is really nice, and Bernard Purdie kills it on a couple of tracks as well.

Ok let's try this

One song where you think you're at at the moment- physically or mentally -physically in that you can play it or mentally you aspire to it

I got one for ya, Joe. Gadson’s “Use Me” groove. I can physically fumble my way through an awkward facsimile of it. We do that number at every gig and we average 120-150 gigs per year, so it’s not like I’m lacking opportunity to work on it.

I mentally aspire to be able to play it with the effortless cool that Gadson plays it with, especially the slowed down live version that’s been on YouTube for several years now. Someday, I want to feel like he looks in this clip when I’m playing.

And here’s a clip of me trying to keep the wheels on the track. LOL. This tempo is closer to the album version. We play it at whatever tempo my guy is feeling that night.

is that left hand motion movement necessary in there @RVC instead of the ol 2&4 plain Is it addin to the the strugglin
or too exaggerated, seems Gadson is barely tappin the extra cross stick notes i dunno +/- (? can't recall what I do when we've played it ; )
yea I guess it's necessary my mistake +/- (ha!

Yeah, that’s the crux of the whole thing. He’s Gadson and I’m not. 🤪:ROFLMAO:

You're going twice as high as he is 😁 on the secondary notes : )
